Objective

The Chief Pilot assists SCBT in managing flight operations and fulfilling responsibilities under aircraft dry lease agreements and other contracts requiring professional pilot services. This position reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer of SCBT Financial Corporation or his designee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all SCBT employee policies and the terms of the Dry Lease between SCBT and the aircraft owner (Lessor).
  • Provide safe, comfortable, and efficient flight operations in support of SCBT business activities.
  • Deliver professional pilot services to management, staff, guests, and invitees.
  • Exercise operational control, determine the airworthiness of leased aircraft, and ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with FAA Part 91 regulations.
  • Manage scheduling, pre-flight planning, ground handling, fueling, maintenance coordination, and inspections.
  • Interface with the Lessor regarding maintenance and operational matters and ensure compliance with all FAA and TSA requirements.
  • Coordinate catering, ground transportation, and logistics; manage fuel procurement to promote economy and savings.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers and supervisors regarding flight status, delays, or schedule changes.
  • Develop and manage aircraft scheduling, including flight time and duty limits.
  • Assist in the retention of contract co-pilots.
  • Prepare expense reports and maintain comprehensive flight manifests, including passenger details and arrival/departure times.
  • Maintain all required FAA Pilot Certificates, Medical Certificates, and recurring training requirements at the individual's expense.
  • Uphold safety and regulatory compliance as primary objectives, with the authority and responsibility to report any concerns that could compromise flight safety.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Valid FAA Pilot Certificate.
  • Valid FAA Medical Certificate.
  • Completion of all training required by the FAA and the aircraft insurer.
