Training & Human Performance Coordinator

Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the world's largest airline pilot union and non-governmental aviation safety organization, representing over 79,000 pilots at 42 U.S. and Canadian airlines, is seeking an experienced Training & Human Performance Coordinator for its Tysons (McLean), Virginia office.

As a vital member of the Engineering & Air Safety (E&AS) department, the Training & Human Performance Coordinator serves as the primary staff focal point for the critical policy areas of Training and Human Performance. This role involves providing expert knowledge, support, and coordination across disciplines including human performance, pilot training, human factors, and other assigned areas. The Coordinator acts as a key liaison between the Association and various governmental bodies, industry organizations, trade associations, and professional groups relevant to these specializations. The position also includes activities associated with the development and global harmonization of regulatory standards. Close collaboration is required with the ALPA Air Safety Organization (ASO), its associated groups, other technical teams, and Master Executive Councils (MECs) within the ALPA structure.

Travel up to 20% is anticipated, with sporadic travel, including local and national trips, potentially reaching 25% of the time. On a rotational basis, the Coordinator answers calls to the ALPA Worldwide Accident Hotline and the Pilot Peer Support line, including coverage outside standard business hours, weekends, and holidays.

The physical demands are characteristic of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these physical activities. This role involves constant operation of a computer/smartphone/tablet, regular periods of remaining stationary, moving about the office and local metropolitan area, active listening and communication, and exchanging accurate information. Regular requirements include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and moving about the office and during travel (locally, nationally, and internationally). Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, or moving items up to ten (10) pounds (e.g., binders, books, boxes, files) is necessary. While traveling, the ability to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs may be required (assistance may not always be available).

The projected annual salary range for this position is $96,027.00 – $137,179.00.
