This crucial role is responsible for the administration and oversight of flight standardization and training for crew members operating in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS) Air Wing within LATAM operations.
The Standardization Pilot will be based in the United States and deployed to support operations requiring native-level proficiency in Spanish (Level L-2, R-2).

Core Responsibilities of the Standardization Pilot
The Standardization Pilot holds primary responsibility for conducting crew member training and evaluations, maintaining training standardization, and ensuring absolute regulatory compliance across all flight operations for the B-1900 fleet. The position requires specialized administrative skill sets regarding flight documentation and Aircrew Training Program (ATP) requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conducting and monitoring all crew member training, which includes aircraft transition training, annual proficiency reviews, and formal flight evaluations.
- Participating in the selection and comprehensive training process for new crew members joining the Program.
- Administering academic and hands-on performance training and evaluations to ensure uniform proficiency and standardization across the aircrew.
- Ensuring all Required Crew Members (RCMs) and Non-Required Crew Members (NRCMs) are fully integrated into the ATP, and conducting training and evaluations in their designated aircraft.
- Maintaining meticulous administrative control over all standardization documentation, including Individual Aircrew Training Folders (IATFs), completing necessary AWIS entries, and managing publications and references.
- Ensuring strict compliance with all Standardization Directives, Air Crew Training Manuals, and ATP requirements.
- Developing individual flight training plans tailored to support the organization’s mission objectives and the ATP.
- Overseeing the maintenance of crew member flight records, accurate weight and balance calculations, and required risk assessments.
- Monitoring crew member proficiency across all phases of mission planning and flight operations to ensure adherence to established policies and directives.
- Maintaining current knowledge of all additions and changes to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation integral to contract operations.
- Training and qualifying crew members to execute all approved missions.
- Serving in assigned leadership roles, including Pilot, Pilot-in-Command (PIC), Standardization Pilot, Air Mission Commander, or Flight Lead.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements, demonstrating extensive fixed wing flight and instructional experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman’s Certificate (Airplane Multi-Engine Land – MEL).
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI-CFII single engine) or Multi-Engine Instructor (CFI-CFII-MEI), or military equivalent instructional rating.
- Successful completion of an FAA Type Rating Course in the selected aircraft type (B-1900) is required prior to assignment. An Unrestricted Type Rating is necessary. Host Nation equivalent certifications may be considered in lieu of FAA certifications, if applicable.
- Possession of a U.S. Security Clearance is mandatory.
- A minimum of 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time, and 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- A minimum of 300 hours as a turbine engine instructor pilot or check pilot.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience managing a formal flight training program.
- Required Spanish proficiency level of L-2 (Listening) and R-2 (Reading) for LATAM Program support.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a U.S. Military Standardization Pilot.
- Previous instructor or standardization pilot support experience within the U.S. Department of State (DoS) program.
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating issued by the FAA.
