About the Role

Serve as a first-level supervisor, planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the work of assigned nonsupervisory instructors.

Act as an aircraft simulator instructor for Undergraduate RPA training (URT) and graduate Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R), covering National Airspace System and international airspace operations.

Provide academic instruction for students in URT and SIT-R programs.

Execute special projects, including preparing and presenting research material.

This is a non-flying, Mission-Essential position.
Requirements

U.S. Citizenship required.

Males must be registered for Selective Service.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if the applicant has not previously met this requirement.

Demonstrate intellectual ability to adapt to rapidly changing training tools and methods.

Ability to stand for several hours while instructing in a classroom environment.

Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stays.
-
May be required to work other than normal duty hours, including overtime and/or irregular hours.

Previous experience as a rated military instructor pilot is highly desirable.
Qualifications

Possess a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

For flight instructor roles, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or military equivalent is required.

Pilot certificates must include ratings appropriate to the work.

Meet minimum flight hour requirements, including:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours

Night Flying: 75 hours
-
Flying Time Last 12 months: 100 hours

Instrument Hours: 75 hours

Instructor: 500 hours
-
Possess a current first or second-class medical certificate.

Ability to instruct at an expert level in interdisciplinary studies, including Aerodynamics, Flying Fundamentals, Instrument Flying, Aircraft Systems, Weather, Crew Resource Management, Operating Procedures, Navigation, Safety, and Aircraft Mishap Prevention.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations and procedures.

Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

Proficiency with computer applications, software, and simulator systems for demonstrating flying procedures.

Skill in using electronic flight bags for training delivery.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including classroom instruction.

Must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing.
