About the Role
The United States Air Force (USAF) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a Supervisory Aircraft Simulator and Academic Instructor. This role involves planning, directing, and organizing nonsupervisory instructors, as well as delivering instruction for students enrolled in the Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) program. The position is located within the USAF and is a non-flying, mission-essential role.
Responsibilities

Perform first-level supervisory workforce management and personnel management responsibilities.

Serve as an aircraft simulator instructor for Undergraduate RPA training (URT) and graduate Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R) programs, covering operations in both National Airspace System and international airspace.

Act as an academic instructor for students in URT and SIT-R programs.

Prepare and present research material for special projects.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Males must be registered for Selective Service.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if the applicant has not previously met this requirement.

Must possess the intellectual ability to adapt quickly to changing training tools, methods, and emerging requirements.

Ability to stand for extended periods while instructing.

Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings or conferences, potentially including overnight stays.

Flexibility to work other than normal duty hours, including potential shift work, overtime, and irregular hours.

This is a Mission-Essential position.

Must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing.
Qualifications

Previous experience as a rated military aviator (instructor pilot) is highly desirable.

Ability to instruct at an expert level in interdisciplinary studies including Aerodynamics, Flying Fundamentals, Instrument Flying, Aircraft Systems, Weather, Crew Resource Management, Operating Procedures, Navigation, Safety, and Aircraft Mishap Prevention.

Knowledge of aircraft systems operation, operating procedures, aerodynamics, emergency procedures, aviation weather, flight hazards, flight profile management, navigation, basic and advanced instrument training, and aircraft safety.

Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

Skill in using computer applications, software, and simulator systems for instruction.

Skill in using electronic flight bags for academic and simulator training.

Proficiency in review and analysis techniques for program appraisal and development.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct staff functions.
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including classroom instruction.

Possession of a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

For instructor positions, possession of an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or military equivalent is required.

Demonstrated flight experience requirements:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours

Night Flying: 75 hours

Flying Time Last 12 months: 100 hours

Instrument Hours: 75 hours

Instructor: 500 hours (related to the nature of the instruction work and category of aircraft)

Must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate.
