The United States Air Force is seeking a Supervisory Instructor Pilot for its Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) and Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R) programs, located at an undisclosed U.S. Air Force base. This supervisory role involves planning, directing, and organizing instructor staff, alongside providing expert instruction in aircraft simulation and academic coursework.
About the Role
This supervisory position requires an experienced aviator to serve as a first-level supervisor, managing a team of non-supervisory instructors. The incumbent will also function as an instructor, delivering specialized training in aircraft simulation and academic subjects for students enrolled in Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) and Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R). Training will cover operations within the National Airspace System and international airspace, adhering to International Civil Aviation Organization rules.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Previous experience as a rated military aviator (instructor pilot) is highly desirable.

Must possess the intellectual ability to adapt to rapidly changing training tools and methods.

Incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods while instructing.

Work may occasionally require travel.

Shift work may be required.

This is a non-flying position.

This is a Mission-Essential, Mission-Critical-Function position.

A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if the applicant has not previously met this requirement.
Qualifications

Must possess a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

For flight instructor roles, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or military equivalent is required.

The pilot certificate must include ratings appropriate to the work.

Minimum flight hour requirements must be met, including:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours
-
Night Flying: 75 hours
-
Flying Time Last 12 months: 100 hours

Instrument Hours: 75 hours

Instructor Time: 500 hours (related to the nature of instruction and aircraft category)

Must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate.

Ability to instruct at an expert level in diverse subjects including Aerodynamics, Flying Fundamentals, Instrument Flying, Aircraft Systems, Weather, Crew Resource Management, Operating Procedures, Navigation, Safety, and Aircraft Mishap Prevention.

Knowledge of aircraft systems operation, operating procedures, aerodynamics, emergency procedures, aviation weather, flight hazards, flight profile management, navigation, basic and advanced instrument training, and aircraft safety.

Knowledge of safety, security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

Skill in using various computer applications and software, including simulator systems and electronic flight bags.

Skill in review and analysis techniques for program appraisal and development.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.

Must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing for this Testing Designated Position (TDP).
