The United States Air Force (USAF) seeks a skilled and experienced individual to serve as a Supervisory Instructor and Simulator/Academic Instructor for the Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) program at an undisclosed USAF location. This non-flying, mission-essential role involves leading instructional staff and providing expert-level training in aircraft simulator and academic environments.
About the Role
This position entails direct supervision of nonsupervisory instructors, planning, directing, and organizing their work. The incumbent will also function as a simulator and academic instructor for students in the Undergraduate Remotely Piloted Aircraft Training (URT) and Simulator Instructor Training (SIT-R) programs. Responsibilities include delivering instruction on aircraft operations within national and international airspace, preparing and presenting research materials, and contributing to special projects.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Previous experience as a rated military aviator (instructor pilot) is highly desirable.

Must possess the intellectual ability to adapt to rapidly changing training tools and methods.

Incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods while instructing.

Work may occasionally require travel away from the duty station.

May be required to work other than normal duty hours, including overtime and/or irregular hours.

This is a Supervisory Position; a 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if not previously met.

Must be able to instruct at an expert level in a wide variety of interdisciplinary studies including Aerodynamics, Flying Fundamentals, Instrument Flying, Aircraft Systems, Weather, Crew Resource Management, Operating Procedures, Navigation, Safety, and Aircraft Mishap Prevention.

Must pass initial and periodic short-notice drug testing as this is a Testing Designated Position (TDP).

Possess a current Commercial Pilot Certificate or appropriate military rating.

For flight instructor roles, an FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or military equivalent rating is also required.

Pilot certificate must include ratings appropriate to the work.

Minimum flight hour requirements must be met, including:

Total Flight Time: 1500 hours

Pilot-In-Command: 250 hours

Night Flying: 75 hours
-
Flying Time Last 12 months: 100 hours

Instrument Hours: 75 hours

Instructor: 500 hours

Must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations.
Qualifications

Knowledge of aircraft systems operation, operating procedures, aerodynamics, emergency procedures, aviation weather, flight hazards, flight profile management, navigation, basic and advanced instrument training, aircraft safety, mishap prevention, crew resource management, and the operation, characteristics, and limitations of corresponding aircraft simulators.

Knowledge of safety, security regulations, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources.

Skill in using various computer applications and software, including simulator systems.

Skill in using electronic flight bags for academic and simulator training delivery.

Skill in review and analysis techniques for program appraisal and development.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium-sized organization.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
