Chief Pilot – Air Ambulance

Air Gato is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to fill the vital role of Chief Pilot, based at their Clearwater offices. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead flight operations and contribute to the critical mission of air ambulance services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience in a role involving Operational Control under 14 CFR Parts 121 or 135. (A waiver may be possible).
  • Must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all operational areas under 14 CFR Part 135.
  • Must be proficient and capable of acting as Pilot in Command (PIC) when required.
  • Must be qualified to serve as a Company Training Captain.
  • Must be qualified to serve as a Company Check Pilot.

Job Expectations:

The Chief Pilot will execute the full scope of their responsibilities in an efficient, timely, and responsible manner, adhering to the guidance provided by the Director of Operations and as detailed in the company's Policy and Procedures Manual.

  • The individual is expected to conduct themselves professionally, responsibly, and ethically at all times while performing the duties of Chief Pilot or when representing the company.
  • They will be responsible for the diligent implementation of Company Policies and Procedures, ensuring adherence to the established standards with respect to Flight Crew Personnel.
  • The Chief Pilot will be responsible for implementing the Company's Operational Control Procedures.
  • They will oversee the development and revision of the Company's General and Aircraft Specific Training Manuals.
  • This individual will direct and be accountable for all training activities of Flight Crew Personnel, working closely with the Flight Operations Trainer.
  • The Chief Pilot will manage the scheduling of Flight Crews.
  • They will share responsibility for Operational Control with the Director of Operations.
  • The individual will ensure that each aircraft has an adequate and up-to-date aircraft book.
  • They will develop and maintain current aircraft checklists.
  • It is their responsibility to verify that all aircraft are furnished with current manuals.
  • The Chief Pilot will support the Director of Operations in personnel interviews, hiring processes, and when necessary, in the discharging of Flight Crew Personnel.
  • They will oversee the currency of Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) and monitor the distribution of company publications to the Flight Crews.
  • This individual will prepare and maintain records of pilot flight and duty times.
  • They will be responsible for implementing a paperless records system and obtaining regulatory approval/acceptance.
  • The Chief Pilot will maintain a full-time pilot schedule while also fulfilling Chief Pilot duties in alternating weeks.
  • They will be expected to perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

  • The Chief Pilot reports directly to the Director of Operations.
  • They will coordinate closely with the Director of Operations, Director of Maintenance, and Flight Coordinators.

Performance Evaluation:

The Chief Pilot's performance will be assessed annually.
