About the Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) Program
The WASS program, an AAR subsidiary headquartered in Rockledge, FL, delivers global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description
This reserve position, based at Patrick SFB, is a TDY assignment until a permanent downrange rotational position becomes available. The role requires domestic and international travel, up to 180 days annually in 45-60-day intervals, until a permanent position is secured.
The successful candidate will:
- Plan and execute flight assignments, gathering information on flight purpose, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions.
- Ensure a comprehensive flight kit is onboard the aircraft.
- Verify required airworthiness inspections have been completed and any discrepancies addressed or properly deferred in accordance with the aircraft's Minimum Equipment List (MEL).
- Supervise or execute the aircraft preflight inspection and preparation.
- Ensure proper loading, distribution, and security of cargo and passengers.
- Verify aircraft weight and balance remain within prescribed limits.
- Complete aircraft flight maintenance logs, load manifests, and discrepancy record forms, delivering copies to the Site Manager for filing upon completion of each flight assignment.
- Retain ultimate responsibility for logging aircraft flight time, filing and closing flight plans, and preparing flight and duty time records.
- Prioritize passenger safety and maintain ramp security during passenger boarding and disembarkation.
- Assign direct reports to assist individuals requiring assistance during potential emergency evacuations of the aircraft.
- Conduct passenger briefings before takeoff or assign the duty to direct reports while retaining accountability.
- Delegate tasks to direct reports while retaining overall responsibility.
- Perform routine travel within the contiguous United States (CONUS) as required.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Rotorcraft Helicopter).
- FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
- 1,500 total rotary wing flight hours, including 500 hours of turbine engine time.
- Night Vision Goggle (NVG) qualified with 300 hours of NVG experience.
- Conversant in English.
- Ability to pass physical screening.
- Passport with 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.
