Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff Test Pilot to join their Flight Test Operations team in Baltimore, MD. This role involves conducting flight tests on multiple aircraft for various sensor development programs, supporting warfighters, and participating in large force exercises.
About the Role

Serve as a critical member of a team conducting flight tests on six aircraft for over 40 sensor development programs.

Participate in large force exercises to demonstrate technology in operational environments.

Maintain proficiency in multiple aircraft types including Bombardier CRJ-700, De Havilland Dash 8, Learjet 60XR, and Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros.

Perform research and development flight tests for sensor development across diverse applications and maturity levels.

Plan and execute test flights to validate analyses supporting aircraft modifications.

Conduct flight operations for sensor development within the National Airspace System, including Special Use Airspace and coordination with military assets.

Provide technical support and liaison with program teams for sensor integration.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 14 years of professional/military experience, OR a Master’s degree and 12 years of professional/military experience, OR a PhD and 10 years of professional/military experience.

Graduation from an internationally recognized Test Pilot School long course (e.g., USNTPS, USAFTPS, NTPS, ETPS, EPNER).

Possession of a current FAA Class II medical certificate or the ability to obtain one prior to start.

Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed-wing Aircraft Commander/Pilot in Command/Primary flight time in turbojet, turbofan, or turboprop aircraft.

FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) pilot certificate without a centerline thrust restriction, or the ability to obtain one prior to start.

U.S. Citizenship is required, along with an interim U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance to begin employment. Must also be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Qualifications

Three or more years of test pilot experience in developmental and/or operational flight test.

FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating.

Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

Previous experience with aircraft modifications, configuration and control, and technical/operational review boards.

Familiarity with government flight test organizations, ranges, and processes.

Technical and operational familiarity with airborne radar systems.
-
A current/active U.S. Government Secret Security clearance or higher.
