Robinson Helicopter Company Inc. (RHC), a leading civil rotorcraft manufacturer based in Torrance, California, is seeking an experienced Experimental Flight Test Pilot. This full-time role involves planning, executing, and analyzing ground and flight tests for experimental rotorcraft and systems, contributing to the development and certification of aircraft.
About the Role
The Experimental Test Pilot will serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) for developmental, research, and certification flight tests of experimental rotorcraft. Responsibilities include conducting complex flight test projects, writing comprehensive flight test plans and reports, and collaborating with various stakeholders to develop test strategies and configurations. The role demands a commitment to safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in flight testing, along with contributing innovative insights to product and organizational improvement. The pilot will also interface with regulatory personnel for aircraft certification and maintain proficiency across multiple aircraft types.
Requirements

Pilot graduate of an SETP-recognized test pilot school or possess substantial experience in development and certification flight test programs.

Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an experimental rotorcraft test pilot.

FAA Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate.

FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.

Minimum of 1,000 hours of helicopter PIC time.

Significant experience managing risk and safety in the flight test environment.

Experience in development and type certification flight test programs for fixed or rotary-wing aircraft.

Excellent academic record.

Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Team-oriented, with a positive attitude and ability to work well with others.

Ability to work irregular hours and workdays, and travel periodically.

Proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong project management, organization, and risk management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products and engineering software tools.
Qualifications

Significant experience in multiple makes and models of rotorcraft.

DER and/or ODA experience.

Master’s degree in engineering.

Human-to-vehicle interface design, test and evaluation experience.

FAA Helicopter Instructor Pilot Certificate and experience.

Previous experience with advanced flight controls.
