General Atomics Aeronautical Systems is seeking a skilled Test Pilot for their Palmdale, California location. This role involves serving as a Test Pilot, Instructor Test Pilot, and Flight Examiner for the company's Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) family of aircraft, ensuring safe and standardized ground and flight operations.
About the Role
The Test Pilot will act as a subject matter expert for all aspects of the company's Unmanned Aircraft Systems, including aircraft hardware and software, ground control station systems, and operational and experimental testing. Responsibilities include developing and executing mission plans, providing academic and in-flight instruction to student pilots and instructor pilots, and consulting with executive management on aircraft development and mission execution. This position requires the safe operation of UAVs during all phases of ground and flight activities, ensuring compliance with all governing regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications

Education or formal training equivalent to a four-year technical degree and ten or more years of progressive experience in ground and flight test operations. Equivalent professional aviation experience may be substituted for education.

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with a current instrument rating.

Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.

2000 hours of logged total pilot time, including:

1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC)

500 hours Cross Country

100 hours Instrument

500 hours in turbine aircraft
Highly Desirable Qualifications

Previous experience with Predator or other UAVs.

Military aviator or military aviation experience.

FAA Instructor rating (CFI and CFII) in manned aircraft.

Graduation from a recognized test pilot school.
