Staff Test Pilot - Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly motivated Staff Test Pilot to join the Test and Evaluation organization. This role is based at the St. Augustine, Florida facility, with a potential temporary assignment to Melbourne, Florida. The successful candidate will support E-2D production acceptance flight tests and Foreign Military Sales, ensuring aircraft meet stringent standards before delivery.
About the Role
The Staff Test Pilot will play a critical role in E-2D production acceptance, modification program induction, verification, sell-off, and delivery. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining air vehicle acceptance procedures, overseeing test plans and cards for safety and efficiency, and leading pre-flight and post-flight briefs. The position also involves executing missions as pilot in command, coordinating training events, mentoring other pilots and engineers, and authoring pilot daily reports. Occasional support for the E-2D Integrated Test Team and various E-2 programs is expected, including testing for Aerial Refueling, cockpit technical refreshes, software configuration upgrades, and future mission systems development. The role requires domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time.
Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline with 12 years of related professional/military experience, OR Master of Science degree in STEM with 10 years of related experience, OR STEM Ph.D. with 8 years of related experience.

Active US Government Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

Current or former E-2D pilot NATOPS Qualification.

Minimum of 2,000 hours total flight time and 1,000 hours experience in E-2 or C-2 aircraft.

Ability to pass FAA Class II physical examination.

Possession of an FAA commercial pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings.

Possession of an FAA Radio Operators permit.

Willingness to deploy on an extended domestic assignment for 12 months to the Melbourne, FL campus.

Willingness to support travel up to 50%, including extended domestic and international trips.

Willingness to support varying shifts, overtime, and holidays as needed.

Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary medical and training clearances as per customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

Graduate of an internationally recognized Test Pilot School or ability to obtain a NAVAIR Test Pilot School (TPS) waiver.

Experience working with foreign military personnel.

Experience in aviation curriculum development.

Graduate of Naval Aviation or USAF Safety Officer School.

NATOPS model manager or related experience.

Instructor pilot experience.

Experience in carrier suitability, structural loads, engine/propeller testing, and Aerial Refueling testing.
