Position Summary
Sony Corporation of America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Captain to join its corporate flight department. This pivotal role is based out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft, ensuring airworthiness for each assigned flight. The Captain serves as the on-site manager and department representative, holding ultimate authority for aircraft operations away from base, while ensuring strict compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual (FOM), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Key Responsibilities
The International Captain’s primary duty is the safe conduct of all assigned flights. Specific duties include:
- Adhering to the authorized Trip Sheet schedule and associated guidance.
- Providing exceptional customer service to passengers.
- Thoroughly checking weather, NOTAMs, and determining fuel, oil, and oxygen needs.
- Determining accurate aircraft weight and balance calculations.
- Ensuring all flight planning and ATC filing requirements are met.
- Confirming the aircraft's airworthiness, registration, and that all necessary documentation is on board.
- Ensuring the aircraft is clean, prepared, and provisioned for passenger safety and comfort.
- Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections before each departure.
- Briefing passengers in compliance with FOM and SOP requirements.
- Operating the aircraft within the limitations prescribed by the Aircraft Flight Manual, Aircraft Loading Manual, and other published limitations.
- Ensuring compliance with all customs, immigration, and cabotage laws.
- Maintaining timely and accurate communication with Scheduling during flights.
- Completing all post-flight duties, including notifications regarding deviations or overnight locations.
- Accurately recording flight times and any aircraft defects.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Ensuring aircraft operations adhere to the highest safety standards set by Federal Aviation Regulations (Part 91), the Aircraft Manufacturer’s Flight Manual, the FOM, and SOP.
- Applying accepted Crew Resource Management procedures.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attending all scheduled training events.
- Maintaining a valid FAA pilot license with appropriate type ratings, English Proficiency Endorsement, First Class Medical Certificate, and FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Holding a valid passport, required visas, and current ID cards as stipulated in the FOM.
- Performing operationally related administrative duties in a timely and professional manner, including maintaining navigational charts, databases, and aircraft inventories.
Collateral Duties:
- Performing duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
- Potentially serving in a collateral assignment as Safety Manager, Standardization Pilot, Training Pilot, Security Manager, or assistant to one of these roles.
Honesty, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct are fundamental requirements for this position.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
- An Airline Transport Pilot rating with the appropriate qualifications for the aircraft operated.
- Extensive turbo jet transport category experience with international operations.
- Ability to pass an FAA First Class Medical examination.
- Proven global operating experience, including extensive experience in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region (APAC).
- Consideration will be given to military-trained pilots, however, corporate aviation experience remains highly desirable.
- Pilot-in-Command experience in an Ultra Long Range category business jet.
- Authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation:
The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $245,000 to $275,000, with an annual bonus target of 22% and eligibility for Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The actual salary offered will be determined based on qualifications, experience, specific skills, education, certifications, and location.
