Captain Developmental Test Pilot

Location: Savannah, GA

Position Overview: Gulfstream is seeking an experienced Captain Developmental Test Pilot to serve as a project pilot for new and existing aircraft development programs. Reporting to the Chief Developmental Test Pilot, the successful candidate will provide critical flight operations and test expertise while interfacing with Engineering, Marketing, and Technical Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide flight operations and test interface for major innovation, engineering, and flight test programs.
  • Conduct developmental, engineering, and experimental test flights to support ongoing projects.
  • Debrief engineering and supplier teams on test results and author concise, timely Flight Test Reports.
  • Collaborate with engineers on design and redesign efforts to ensure certification readiness.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with FAA and EASA representatives regarding technology certification.
  • Critique developmental and certification test plans to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and improve aircrew publications and provide flight instruction to company and customer flight crews.
  • Pursue Gulfstream ODA AR Flight Test Pilot authorizations and expand expertise in flight test techniques.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technically related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in flight operations and flight test.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in the aerospace industry.

Professional Requirements

  • Gulfstream Type Rating required.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP/ATPL) license or the ability to attain it.
  • FAA Aircraft Multi-Engine Land (AMEL) license with appropriate Type Ratings.
  • Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or significant equivalent experience in experimental flight test.
  • Current FAA Class I Medical certificate.
  • FAA Flight Instructor certificate is highly desired.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
