Position Summary:

Republic Airways is seeking dedicated and skilled Pilots to serve as First Officers, supporting the aircraft Captain in a critical role. This position is fundamental to ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient operation of the aircraft. The Pilot assists the Captain in executing all aspects of flight operations and aircraft management in strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Company policies and procedures, significantly contributing to the airline's operational reliability and on-time performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Captain on comprehensive flight planning, utilizing all available weather information and reports in accordance with Company policies and procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Determines aircraft airworthiness through thorough preflight inspections, ensuring compliance with FARs and Company guidelines.
  • Assists the Captain in ensuring the flight is planned and fueled properly for safe conduct, adhering to all policies and regulations.
  • Safely, properly, and effectively operates the aircraft during assigned duty periods under the direction of the Captain, following FARs and Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of operated aircraft equipment, relevant FARs, Company manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with crew and passengers, providing timely notification of turbulent weather conditions or other operational factors impacting the flight.
  • Accurately completes the load manifest for each flight.
  • Contributes to a reliable and on-time operation by assisting the Captain in meeting all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
  • Provides assistance while at the terminal, ensuring proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo.
  • Maintains consistent and reliable attendance according to Company procedures and practices.
  • Presents a professional appearance, adhering to the Company uniform dress code.
  • Conducts self professionally at all times while on duty, observing company Rules of Conduct as outlined in relevant manuals and policies.
  • Actively engages in professional training and development to enhance performance and abilities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Meets the minimum requirements for an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (RATP) certificate.
  • Successful completion of the ATP written examination is preferred.
  • Meets the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hour requirements established by the FAA and Company.
    • Candidates meeting interview minimums but not hiring minimums may be eligible for hire upon successful interview completion provided they meet the hiring minimums within six months of the interview date, have no certificate action, misdemeanors, or felonies since the interview date, and accept a class date within six months of the interview date.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand complex technical procedures and governmental regulations, including under stressful or emergency conditions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond clearly to questions from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public.
  • Fluency in spoken and understood English, including the ability to communicate effectively via shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities to address practical challenges and navigate variable situations with limited standardization.
  • Capability to interpret a variety of and multiple instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Ability to remain calm, think critically, and react swiftly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
  • Sound decision-making skills that support strategic direction and ensure safety-of-flight, capable of processing information quickly and reacting positively under high levels of stress while controlling personal and emotional responses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior customer service experience, ideally within an aviation or airline environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The role requires the physical capability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl. The Pilot must be able to sit for extended periods without standing and capable of lifting or moving items weighing up to 75 pounds at different heights. Essential demands include meeting FAA medical standards for visual acuity and hearing, clearly hearing verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset amidst ambient aircraft and passenger noise. The position requires stamina to work long and sequential duty days, often with frequent changes in temperatures, climate, and weather conditions. Pilots must be able to move freely, effectively, and quickly within a confined aircraft environment to perform all required functions and fit comfortably in the pilot’s seat or assigned jump seat with fastened seatbelt and shoulder harness without modifications. The work environment involves working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor weather conditions within open hangars and on the flight line for extended periods, and loud noise levels necessitating headset use. Pilots must be willing and able to work extended duty periods on sequential days, including varied schedules with early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires extensive travel, up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Pilots must be able to work extended hours with inherent unpredictability in scheduling and be ready to report to work with little advance notice. Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs is required.
