First Officer - Republic Airways
Overview
Republic Airways seeks a skilled and dedicated First Officer to join our team. This role supports the aircraft Captain in ensuring safe and timely operation of our Embraer 170/175 fleet.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Flight Planning & Execution: Collaborate with the Captain in meticulous flight planning, leveraging comprehensive weather data and reports to ensure adherence to Company policies, procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Aircraft Readiness: Contribute to preflight inspections, ensuring aircraft airworthiness according to FARs and Company standards.
- Flight Management: Partner with the Captain in meticulously planning and fueling flights to guarantee a safe and compliant operation.
- Aircraft Operation: Execute safe and effective aircraft operation throughout the designated duty period, following the Captain's instructions, FARs, and Company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge & Proficiency: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, FARs governing aircraft operation, and relevant manuals, policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Passenger & Crew Communication: Provide clear and timely information to crew and passengers regarding turbulent weather or other operational factors impacting the flight.
- Operational Efficiency: Contribute to reliable and on-time operations by assisting the Captain in adhering to report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
- Ground Operations: Assist with and ensure proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo at the terminal.
- Professionalism: Maintain consistent and reliable attendance in accordance with Company procedures and practices. Present a professional appearance and adhere to the Company's uniform dress code. Conduct oneself professionally at all times while on duty and observe the Rules of Conduct for all Associates outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Associate Handbook, and other related policies and procedures.
- Continuous Development: Actively pursue professional training to enhance performance and capabilities.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Company and the Captain.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must meet the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate.
- ATP written is preferred.
- Meet the current interview and hiring minimum age and flight hours requirements set by the FAA and Company.
- Candidates meeting interview minimums but not hiring minimums will be eligible for hire upon successful completion of the interview process if they:
- Meet the hiring minimums within six months of the interview date.
- Have no certificate action since the date of the interview.
- Have no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
- Accept class date within six months of the interview date.
- Preferred Education & Experience: Prior customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations, sometimes quickly and under stressful or emergency situations. Effectively present information to and respond to questions from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public. Speak and be understood in English, including shouting verbal commands during emergency situations.
- Reasoning/Problem Solving: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of and multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Remain calm, think, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.
- Decision Making & Impact of Errors: Make decisions to support strategic direction. Decisions tend to be medium range and of medium significance with moderate consequences, but may in unusual situations be significant and have safety-of-flight consequences. Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound and may impact safety. Process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations. Control personal and emotional responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and/or crawl.
- Ability to sit without standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift or move items at different heights weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Adherence to visual demands set in the medical standards established by the FAA.
- Ability to hear clearly verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Stamina needed to work long days, on sequential days, with frequent change in temperatures, climate, and weather conditions.
- Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to sit in the pilot's seat or assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
Work Environment
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions within an open-air hangar and on the flight line for extended periods.
- Noise levels may be loud, and the use of a headset is required.
- Willingness and ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days, as well as a varied schedule, including early morning, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
- Ability to work extended hours with lack of scheduling control and be ready to report to work with little notice.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company's operational needs.
