Republic Airways, one of North America's largest regional airlines, is seeking highly motivated and skilled First Officers to join our growing team. As a First Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of Embraer 170/175 aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Captain in all aspects of flight planning, including meticulous analysis of weather reports, route optimization, and fuel calculations, adhering to both Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company procedures.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight inspections to verify the aircraft's airworthiness and compliance with all safety standards.
- Ensure a safe and comfortable flight experience for passengers by skillfully operating the aircraft under the Captain's guidance, strictly adhering to FARs, company protocols, and industry best practices.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems, relevant FARs, company manuals, and operational procedures.
- Effectively communicate with the Captain, crew members, air traffic control, and passengers, providing timely updates on flight status and any relevant operational factors.
- Oversee the completion of flight documentation, including accurate load manifests.
- Contribute to the airline's commitment to on-time performance by assisting the Captain in meeting all scheduled deadlines.
- Exhibit professionalism and adhere to the company's uniform dress code, serving as a positive representative of Republic Airways.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Meet or exceed the minimum requirements for an ATP or RATP certificate as defined by the FAA and company policy.
- Possession of an ATP written certificate is highly desired.
- Meet the company's age and flight hour requirements for interviewing and hiring.
- Candidates meeting interview minimums, but not hiring minimums, may be eligible for future consideration upon successful completion of the interview process and fulfillment of the following criteria within six months:
- Achievement of Hiring Minimums.
- Maintenance of a clean certificate record.
- Absence of any misdemeanor or felony convictions.
- Acceptance of a class date within the specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience, ideally within the aviation industry.
Essential Skills:
- Language Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend technical documents, governmental regulations, and operational procedures. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for clear and concise interaction with management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public, particularly in stressful or emergency situations. The ability to issue clear verbal commands, including shouting if necessary, during emergencies is crucial.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, particularly in situations with limited standardization, are essential. The ideal candidate can interpret and synthesize information from various sources, including written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled formats. Critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to make timely decisions, even under pressure, are crucial for ensuring flight safety and operational efficiency.
- Stress Management and Adaptability: Maintaining composure and reacting swiftly and effectively in emergency situations, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence, is paramount. The ability to manage personal emotions, adapt to unexpected circumstances, and maintain a calm and professional demeanor under duress is essential.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires the physical ability to:
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, and crawl.
- Remain seated for extended periods.
- Lift and maneuver items weighing up to 75 pounds at various heights.
- Meet the FAA's visual acuity standards for pilots.
- Clearly hear and understand verbal communication in person, over the telephone, and through a headset within a noisy aircraft cabin environment.
- Work long hours, including overnight stays, and adapt to irregular schedules, often with minimal notice.
- Tolerate extended periods in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Work comfortably within a confined cockpit environment while wearing a seatbelt and shoulder harness.
Travel:
This position demands extensive travel, potentially up to 100%, encompassing nights, weekends, holidays, and extended overnight stays. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to relocate based on operational needs are essential.
