To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a reliable, motivated, and knowledgeable leader to join our team as a Regional Chief Pilot. The successful candidate utilizes their extensive aviation knowledge to assist the Flight Department leadership in planning and executing programs that promote and maintain Company objectives for providing safe, efficient, and profitable air transportation. This position reports to the Chief Pilot and being a current Captain is not a requirement.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the performance of assigned flight crews
  • Ensure a safe, cost effective, and reliable operation in accordance with established Company policies, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations, and consistent with customer expectations
  • Actively support the company's Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety and Environmental Management System (SeMS) (14 CFR Part 5)
  • Coordinate Flight Operations Department activities among the various crew bases and with other Company departments
  • Direct flying operations, conduct other activities of line pilots, and accomplish additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Flight Operations
  • Plan and execute programs involving personnel, equipment, policies, and procedures required of the Flight Operations Department in maintaining the Company objective of providing safe, efficient, and profitable air transportation
  • Monitor and administer daily flight operations and associated activities
  • Direct the coordination of recruitment, qualification, training, scheduling, and performance of flying and ground personnel in the Flight Department
  • Monitor and administer daily flight operations and associated activities
  • Maintain an overview of Flight Operations Department systems and practices to assist responsible managers in maintaining overall efficiency and regulatory compliance
  • Direct the coordination of recruitment, qualification, training, scheduling, and performance of flying and ground personnel in the Flight Department
  • Direct the coordination of flight equipment, procedures, and performance items with other departments and outside agencies or groups
  • Direct the coordination of Flight Department investigations made necessary by accident or incident and in overall Company areas of safety
  • Serve as a member of the Operational Data Analysis Group (ODAG)
  • Serve as designee to chief pilot of company Operations Standards Board (OSB)
  • Promote and communicate safety and security information throughout the organization
  • Executive safety risk management and perform safety assurance following SMS principles

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with appropriate ratings
  • A thorough understanding of aviation standards and safety operating practices, operations specifications, maintenance, and airworthiness requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Currently employed in a pilot position
  • Previous experience in a Regional Chief Pilot or equivalent position
  • A type rating in aircraft to be flown

Work Environment:

  • Airport ramp and warehouse environment, subject to varied weather conditions and elevated noise levels
  • Available to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment
  • Extensive travel, ability to spend consecutive nights away from base
  • Exempt

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, reaching, lifting, climbing up and down stairs
