A captain will be a properly certificated pilot, who, when assigned, will act as Pilot-in-Command (“PIC”) of company aircraft. A captain will be responsible for the safe conduct of the flight. He/she will be in complete control of the aircraft and all crewmembers, and will have absolute authority in deciding whether a flight may be safely dispatched. Captains will report to the Director of Aviation.
Qualifications:
ATP certificate with a type rating appropriate to the aircraft flown.
Holds a current Class I FAA medical certificate.
Must have successfully completed initial and recurrent training programs and competency checks as prescribed by the company training program requirements.
The following are the duties of a captain:
Acts as Pilot-in-Command of company aircraft when assigned. He/she has full responsibility of all aspects of a trip and the assigned crew.
Ensures that the requirements established by the PayPal Inc. Aviation Department regarding all aspects of a flight are satisfactorily met.
Ensures that the aircraft is airworthy. Verifies that maintenance preflight/postflight inspections have been accomplished, and that all aircraft discrepancies have been satisfactorily corrected and recorded prior to commencing a flight. Ensures that all necessary equipment and documents are aboard prior to commencing a flight.
Checks weather and all applicable NOTAMs where available, and determines fuel, and oxygen requirements.
Accomplishes preflight planning duties, including evaluating aircraft performance, weight and balance calculation, weather conditions, etc.
Ensures FMS databases are current
Ensures all flight planning requirements have been met
Ensures that aircraft crewmembers have valid certificates, medical, passports, and visas when required
Completes and aircraft preflight before every flight
Performs the passenger safety briefing or delegates to appropriate crewmember
Ensures compliance with customs, immigration and cabotage laws
Completes a Flight Risk Analysis Tool prior to flights when applicable
Makes decisions necessary to start, delay or cancel flights and deviated the from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate
Job Description:
Communicates with passengers concerning the flight. Ensures that all passenger needs are met.
Supervises any maintenance performed on an aircraft away from home base.
Reports to the Director of Aviation concerning any anomalies encountered during a trip.
Records flight times, and ensures that aircraft discrepancies encountered in flight are recorded for maintenance corrective action.
Maintains a high degree of proficiency in the assigned aircraft through recurrent training and PIC Proficiency Checks.
Available for duty according to a prescribed schedule or as required.
Maintains navigational charts.
Maintains increasing level of aviation knowledge, FAR’s, air traffic control procedures, and proficiency commensurate with experience.
Strives for and promotes a safe, team-oriented approach to managing each flight using industry accepted Crew Resource Management techniques and best practices.
Maintains a professional manner reflected by dress, attitude and courtesy.
Performs all specific duties assigned by the Director of Aviation
