Pilatus PC-24 Check Airman/Instructor – Houston, TX

Position Overview:

PHI Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated aviation professional to serve in a dual role as a Line Pilot and Check Airman/Instructor for the Pilatus PC-24 aircraft, based in Houston, Texas. Key Responsibilities:

  • Line Pilot:
    • Safely and expeditiously transport medical personnel, patients, and equipment in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, PHI Operations Manuals, and all applicable regulations.
    • Operate in a 24-hour environment with day/night rotations.
    • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and customer requirements.
  • Check Airman/Instructor:
    • Provide expert flight and ground instruction to company pilots and customers on the Pilatus PC-24 aircraft.
    • Conduct qualification evaluations to assess pilot competency and adherence to standards.
    • Identify and correct student performance issues, demonstrating best practices and techniques.
    • Develop training programs and materials in collaboration with the Training Manager and Supervisor, Flight Standards.
    • Ensure all students have comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations and company policies.
    • Evaluate student performance and make recommendations on pilot qualification status.
    • Maintain meticulous training records.

Qualifications:

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Airplane Multi-engine Land).
  • First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3,000 hours total flight time.
  • Minimum of 2,000 hours fixed-wing flight time.
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours fixed-wing multi-engine PIC turbine flight time.
  • Minimum of 250 night flight hours with 100 hours fixed-wing night flight time.
  • Minimum of 200 IMC hours, with 75 hours actual IMC flight time.
  • Minimum of 50 hours fixed-wing turbine flight time in the last 12 months.
  • Must meet a 235-pound body weight requirement.
  • Certified Flight Instructor Certificate.
  • Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument Certificate for IFR assignments.
  • Minimum two years-experience as an Air Medical Line Pilot
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and company software applications.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Successful interview with the Manager of Training and Supervisor, Flight Standards.
  • Instructional demonstration (10-15 minutes using PowerPoint or other presentation media)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PC-24 Qualified & Current.
  • Two years of EMS experience.
  • 150 hours of night flight time, or 10 hours night time in the last 36 months.
  • BE200 Current and Qualified.
  • 200 hours in type.
  • 10 hours of instrument time in the last 36 months.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a pre-placement physical exam (including functional capacity assessment, drug screening, and background check).
  • Willingness to participate in community outreach programs.
  • Ability to lift and assist with patient loading and unloading (up to 100 pounds).
  • Ability to live within one hour commute from the base.
  • Travel away from base on an as needed basis including the annual Instructor Meeting.
  • Must be able to pass pre-placement physical exam including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, lift 100 pounds), drug screening and background screen
