Position Summary

Perform duties as a DHC 8 Pilot-In-Command; overall responsible for the safe and legal execution of an ISR flight within the AFRICOM AOR in accordance with GFR approved Flight and Ground Operations Procedures (FGOPs), applicable host nation rules and Federal Aviation Regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to :

  • Perform duties as DHC 8 Pilot-in-Command in IMC/Day/Night to provide maximum station time and position the aircraft to maximize MSO efficiency.
  • Perform flight, performance, weight and balance and fuel planning as required to safely and effectively complete the mission.
  • Maintain electronics and associated software updates to satisfy flight planning, performance planning, weight and balance, etc as required: APG, ForeFlight, etc.
  • Coordinates with LNOs for all international flights and associated permissions and authorities: APACS - diplomatic clearances, landing authorizations, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

The position is contingent upon candidate’s ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; thereby, including compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictional requirements with respect to COVID-19, as well as any Government or customer site-specific requirements. Requirements typically include but are not limited to proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, except in circumstances where a candidate is legally entitled to an accommodation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pilot-in-Command
  • DHC 8 Type Rating
  • FAA Commercial Multi-Engine Airplane Land License
  • Must be qualified in mission type, design, and if appropriate series of aircraft
  • Must have not less than 1000 hours documented Pilot-in-Command time
  • Pilot-in-Command time for other aircraft must include 300 hours in similar aircraft type
  • Must possess a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • Must possess a current FAA Commercial/Instrument or Airline Transportation Pilot license
  • Must be able to meet all CRC deployment and medical requirements
  • FAA Class II Medical certificate

Required Education / Certification / Experience: (education a candidate MUST have to be considered for a position)

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related experience

Desired Pilot Requirements:

  • FAA ATP MEL
  • DHC-8 / 200 Type Rating
  • 3,000 hours total time
  • 1,000 fixed-wing PIC hours
  • 300 hours in either proposed airframe
  • Former US military or government law enforcement pilot
  • US military trained Fixed Wing Instructor Pilot, Maintenance Pilot, or Instrument Examiner
  • Prior overseas rotation experience, particularly in USCENTCOM area of operations
  • Radio Telephone Operators Permit
  • Experience supporting USSOCOM in global operations

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Candidates hired for this position will be subject to a post-offer, pre-hire, pre-deployment medical assessment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least six months remaining prior to expiration and three blank pages.
  • All candidates must be able to meet the requirements of all US Combatant Commands’ entry requirements
  • Must have an Active TS/SCI Security Clearance
