Role Summary and Responsibilities
The Lead Pilot serves as a highly skilled Gulfstream 550 Pilot in Command (PIC), joining a select team of professional flight crews and maintenance personnel. This pivotal position carries the initial cadre responsibility for establishing Gulfstream 550 flight operations and providing specialized training to current organizational pilots on the G550 airframe.
The PIC is responsible for ensuring all operational, training, and safety management goals are rigorously met. The Lead Pilot will maintain strict adherence to crew flight and duty time limitations (FDTLs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role requires close coordination with the customer to foster a robust culture of safety supported by efficient procedures and outstanding customer service. The position requires on-call availability and occasional short-notice travel worldwide.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess superior technical expertise, organizational capabilities, and highly developed interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface daily with customers at various levels.
Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience, OR a Graduate Degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of thirteen (13) years of related experience is required.
Certifications: Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with experience in aircraft having a Maximum Takeoff Gross Weight (MTGW) of 74,000 pounds or greater.
Flight Hours:
Minimum 3,000 total flight hours.
Minimum 1,500 Pilot in Command (PIC) flight hours.
Minimum 1,500 multi-engine turbine hours.
Minimum 1,000 hours specifically in the Gulfstream 550 (G550).
Medical and Security:
Current FAA Class II Flight Physical (or First Class if age 65 or older), with the ability to obtain medical clearance for worldwide travel.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Ability to obtain an airport clearance/security badge (FAA).
General Requirements:
Current U.S. passport and valid State Driver’s License.
Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing the English language.
Physical ability to lift, move, and maneuver 50 to 75 pounds above the head.
Will require eventual type qualification training in the Boeing 757.
Note: When evaluating flight time, consideration will be given to the quality, quantity, recent experience, verifiability of training, complexity of aircraft flown, types of flight operations, and hours flown as PIC in turbine-powered aircraft. Preferred Additional Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess these highly desired qualifications:
An active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
Familiarity or experience with FAA Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 91, 121, 125, or 135 operations.
Current or prior experience as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Military instructor pilot.
Recent, proven worldwide international flying experience.
Additional transport category aircraft experience, specifically in the Boeing 737, 757, or 767.
