Kalitta Charters II, a leader in scheduled and on-demand narrow-body freighter operations, seeks a dedicated and skilled First Officer to contribute to their commitment to safe and reliable air freight solutions. This full-time position is based at Willow Run Airport (YIP) in Ypsilanti, MI.

Job Summary:

The First Officer reports to the Captain and is instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of each flight. In the event of Captain incapacitation, the First Officer will assume command responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute flight duties in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, encompassing procedures, limitations, and performance specific to the aircraft type, as directed by the Captain.
  • Provide expert navigation, continuously monitoring the aircraft’s geographical position and ensuring safe terrain clearance.
  • Conduct flights safely and correctly, adhering to current flight plans and the Captain’s instructions during periods when the Captain is not at the controls.
  • Offer proactive advice, information, and assistance to the Captain to facilitate the safe and efficient execution of the flight.
  • Seek necessary information and clarification from the Captain to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the First Officer role.
  • Report any safety concerns, irregularities, incidents, or accidents to the Director of Safety, unless already reported by other crew members.
  • Maintain up-to-date and available aircraft manuals.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; an aviation-related college degree is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and passport.
  • Current First Class Medical Certificate.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot License with an Instrument Rating.
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
  • R-ATP Holder - Minimum of 1,000 hours of total flight time.
  • Minimum of 2,500 hours total flight time and 500 hours of turbine time.
  • Previous FAR Part 121 experience is preferred.
  • Boeing-737 type rating is preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office, computer software, and internet navigation.
  • Successful completion of DOT/FAA pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Demonstrated ability to be motivated, resourceful, energetic, organized, and capable of managing oneself and being managed.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible, with the ability to multitask and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ethical and trustworthy with sensitive information, service-oriented, and able to manage stress effectively while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to function within a team-oriented environment.
  • Respectful of diverse populations and cultures, with an outgoing personality and proven ability to develop professional relationships.
  • Ability to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computer and telephone equipment as part of the job.

Additional Information:

  • This is an on-site position; remote work is not available.
  • Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
  • A 13 days on, 10 days off schedule is implemented, bid in 90-day increments. Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
  • Must meet FAR Part 121 age requirements and be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • An annual base compensation of $81,360.00.
  • Salary during training, with provided accommodations at base (YIP).
