Kalitta Air is seeking an Assistant Chief Pilot to manage daily flight operations and ensure adherence to safety and procedural standards. This role, based in Ypsilanti, MI, supports the Chief Pilot in various capacities, including pilot management, interviewing, and regulatory compliance.
About the Role
The Assistant Chief Pilot is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of all pilots under the direction of the Chief Pilot. This position ensures flight crew members comply with Kalitta Air's policies and procedures to deliver exceptional customer experiences and maintain the highest safety standards. Key responsibilities include preparing and distributing crew instructions and bulletins, coordinating with other departments for regulatory compliance with FAA, ICAO, and EASA, and assisting the Chief Pilot with pilot hiring and other necessary tasks, including acting on their behalf when required.
Requirements

FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Certificate or Restricted Multi-Engine Airline Pilot Certificate.

Minimum of 2500 total flight hours; 4000 hours preferred.

For military applicants: over 1000 hours total time; turbine and PIC hours are flexible.

Minimum of 1500 turbine (jet) flight hours.

Minimum of 500 PIC turbine (jet) flight hours.

Current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate.

FCC Radio License.

Ability to travel internationally without restrictions.

Current US Passport.

Ability to pass a 10-year security background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Qualifications

Previous experience as a Check Airman, Assistant Chief Pilot, Chief Pilot, Fleet Manager, or Director of Operations at a FAR 121/135 carrier is preferred.

An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or a related field is preferred.

Previous Boeing aircraft operating experience is preferred.

Ability to successfully complete Kalitta Air’s Captain upgrade program on a B747 or B777.

Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding spoken and written English, including the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to walk up or downstairs.

Ability to work in confined areas for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
