Lead Captain - G650ER
Jet Aviation, a global leader in aviation services since 1967, seeks a highly experienced and skilled Lead Captain for a G650ER aircraft. This position is based in Stuart, FL or Rifle, CO. The Lead Captain will report to the regional chief pilot and will be responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, with a paramount focus on safety, security, and quality. The Lead Captain exercises Pilot-in-Command authority on all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for ensuring the safe operation of the aircraft.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making critical decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other pertinent conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all applicable federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during flight operations.
- Coordinate aircraft schedules and training activities with flight crew members and customer service representatives, utilizing supplemental crew resources as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, and maintenance requirements.
- Ensure that all assigned crew members accurately submit and meticulously review flight and duty records, along with all other required documentation.
- Maintain current aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/EFBs, delegating responsibilities as necessary.
- Coordinate crew member training and check rides in conjunction with the Manager of Training, adhering to the annual training calendar.
- Manage crew member time off and training events while maintaining optimal aircraft coverage.
- Verify that the flight crew reports for duty appropriately attired and in optimal mental and physical condition for flight duties.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to crew members to facilitate their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Attend Lead Captain meetings to stay informed on company policies and procedures.
- Assist the Account Director with various tasks as requested.
- Participate in the flight crew hiring process.
- Institute necessary changes dictated by en route conditions, ensuring flight continuation under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in compliance with current procedures.
- Ensure thorough and complete communication with the Second-in-Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies as they occur, reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance or designee.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as needed or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA Flight Service Station or authorized agency.
- File or ensure the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Fulfill the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable security program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate the duty to the Second-in-Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second-in-Command, preparing them for Pilot-in-Command duties in emergencies or future upgrades.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to operations control before each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Report any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as needed, while retaining responsibility for their completion.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to use hands and fingers, stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions and potential extremes in hangar temperature are required.
Compensation and Benefits:
The likely salary range for this position is $320,000 – $340,000, commensurate with experience, geographic location, and other requirements.
