Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned flights, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises full authority over all aspects of the flight, ensuring its safe and compliant conduct.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Hold and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land experience.
- Minimum 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Turbojet experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours of Night experience.
- Minimum 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument experience.
- Minimum 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide, without any restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and canceling flights as necessary due to weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes en route to maintain flight compliance with company standards.
- Conduct flights safely and prudently, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Complete all trip paperwork accurately, according to current procedures.
- Maintain a thorough understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies as they occur in the aircraft discrepancy log and report them promptly to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Determine, based on the approved MEL and guidance from the Director of Maintenance or designee, whether inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair, and complete the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Confirm that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or arrange for the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended airport of landing and alternates.
- Fulfill the role of In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct or assign the duty of conducting passenger safety briefings.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or upon their upgrade to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- The Pilot in Command may delegate these duties but not the responsibility for them.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
