Position Summary
The Pilot in Command, reporting to the Lead Captain, is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight assignments. The role emphasizes safety, security, and quality, with the Pilot in Command exercising final authority for the safe conduct of the flight.
Minimum Requirements
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- FAA First Class Medical certificate (must be obtained and maintained).
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing experience.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land experience.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command experience.
- 1500 hours Turbojet experience.
- 1500 hours Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night experience.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument experience.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in full compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes in response to en route conditions to maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure thorough and complete communication with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Determine if inoperative items can be deferred or require repair based on the approved MEL and as directed by the Director of Maintenance or their designee, ensuring complete documentation on the aircraft discrepancy log.
- Confirm that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from a FAA flight service station or authorized agency.
- File or arrange for the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the 12.5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Provide knowledge and skills training to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- The Pilot in Command may delegate duties but retains responsibility for those duties.
- Other duties may be required, as needed.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

The hangar environment may be extremely hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
