Position Summary:
The Captain, operating as Pilot in Command, reports directly to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flights. The individual will exercise full Pilot in Command authority and bear the ultimate responsibility for flight safety, adhering to all company operating policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Gulfstream 500 Type Rating.
- Active and valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbine flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours of Night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- A minimum of five years of documented aviation experience.
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule.
- Unrestricted willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate the aircraft safely and efficiently, making sound decisions regarding flight timing and routes based on prevailing conditions, including weather.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in full compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement all necessary adjustments to the flight plan in response to en route conditions, ensuring continued adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Conduct all flights in a safe, prudent manner, according to both industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure comprehensive understanding with the Second in Command regarding all facets of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the appropriate log, and report to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Determine if deferred maintenance can be applied using the approved MEL.
- Ensure all flight crew members report for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency procedures.
- Secure the aircraft post-flight, including arranging hangar storage as directed.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA Flight Service Station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Act as the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Mentor the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the responsibilities of Pilot in Command, when required.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control at the conclusion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information regarding safety issues, and report all safety hazards and concerns immediately.
- Report any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as necessary, while retaining full responsibility for those duties.
- Execute other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company both internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
This role requires the physical ability to perform essential job functions. The employee will frequently use their hands and fingers, and stand, walk, or sit. Occasionally, they will be required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is moderate with occasional high levels during aircraft arrivals and departures. The individual will be frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures within the hangar environment.
