Jet Aviation - Gulfstream 650 Captain

Jet Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to operate a Gulfstream 650, based in Burbank, CA. This position, within the Flight Services category, reports to the lead captain and is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient conduct of all assigned flights, exercising final authority as Pilot-in-Command. Minimum Requirements:

  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Maintain a valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 4,000 hours total fixed-wing flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours multi-engine land flight time.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours turbojet flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours turbine flight time.
  • A minimum of 100 hours night flight time.
  • A minimum of 75 hours actual or simulated instrument flight time.
  • Five years of experience in aviation.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making decisions regarding flight cancellations due to weather or other conditions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary adjustments to flight plans as required by en-route conditions while maintaining compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct all flights safely and prudently, adhering to industry best practices and company guidelines.
  • Accurately complete all required trip paperwork, following established procedures.
  • Ensure thorough communication and understanding with the second-in-command regarding all flight aspects.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies in the appropriate log and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance, determining if the issue can be deferred or requires immediate repair.
  • Verify that the flight crew is properly attired and mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency procedures, for authorized aircraft.
  • Secure the aircraft post-flight, arranging hangar storage as required or directed.
  • Obtain current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
  • File flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
  • Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for intended landing and alternate airports.
  • Serve as the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable.
  • Conduct passenger safety briefings or assign this duty to the second-in-command.
  • Mentor and impart knowledge to the second-in-command to prepare them for assuming Pilot-in-Command responsibilities.
  • Complete and submit leg manifests and end-of-day reports to operations control.
  • Actively support the open sharing of safety information, reporting hazards and concerns.
  • Report any hazardous actions or events immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • Delegate duties as necessary while maintaining ultimate responsibility.
  • Fulfill other duties as required, representing Jet Aviation professionally internally and externally.

Physical Demands:

The employee will be required to use hands and fingers for handling and reaching. They will frequently stand, walk, or sit, and occasionally climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds above their head is required. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes both heavy maintenance areas and customer-focused areas. The noise level is moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrival/departure. Exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes may occur. The employee must be able to work in all weather conditions. The hangar environment may be subject to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
