Pilot in Command - Jet Aviation

Position Summary:
The Pilot in Command reports directly to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of flight assignments, prioritizing safety, security, and quality. Exercising full authority over assigned flights, the Pilot in Command is ultimately accountable for the safe conduct of each flight.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing Flight Time
- 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land Flight Time
- 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command Flight Time
- 1,500 hours of Turbojet Flight Time
- 1,500 hours of Turbine Time
- 100 hours of Night Flight Time
- 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument Flight Time
- 5 years of aviation experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions
- Valid driver's license
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, including determining departure times and routes, and/or canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes in flight plans as required by en route conditions to maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure thorough and complete communication with the second in command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Determine, based on the approved MEL and as directed by the DOM or their designee, whether inoperative items can be deferred or require immediate repair and complete the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Ensure the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most up-to-date weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate that duty to the second in command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the second in command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the second in command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to ops control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to ops control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- While the Pilot in Command may delegate these duties, they remain responsible for their successful completion.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company, both internally and externally, with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
