Captain - Challenger 605
Jet Aviation, a global leader in aviation services since 1967, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team in Teterboro, New Jersey. As a Captain, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Challenger 605 aircraft.
Position Summary:
The Captain reports directly to the Lead Captain, adhering to all company policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of flight assignments, with a primary focus on safety, security, and quality. The Captain will exercise full authority over all assigned flights, serving as the ultimate decision-maker for the flight's safe conduct.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a valid Challenger 605 Type Rating.
- Hold and maintain a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of multi-engine land experience.
- Minimum 2,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of turbojet experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours of night flight experience.
- Minimum 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight.
- At least 5 years of experience in the aviation industry.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including potential overnight stays.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and make informed decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures during every flight.
- Implement necessary changes in flight plans based on en route conditions, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Maintain a commitment to conducting flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
- Establish a thorough and complete understanding with the Second-in-Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Document all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee.
- Evaluate aircraft discrepancies in accordance with the Approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and the guidance of the Director of Maintenance or their designee, determining the need for immediate repair or deferral.
- Confirm the flight crew's readiness for duty, ensuring they are properly attired and mentally and physically fit to perform their duties.
- Possess a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage when deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized sources, such as FAA flight service stations.
- File or initiate the filing of flight plans with the FAA or relevant ICAO state ATC facilities.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternate airports.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program (12-5 Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program).
- Conduct or delegate the duty of conducting passenger safety briefings to the Second-in-Command.
- Train the Second-in-Command to assume the duties of Pilot-in-Command in an emergency or upon their promotion to that role.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report any safety hazards or concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as necessary, while maintaining ultimate responsibility for all assigned tasks.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally, engaging with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
