Position Summary:
The Captain, reporting to the Lead Captain, is responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of all assigned flights, adhering strictly to company operating policies and procedures. This role requires exercising full pilot-in-command authority, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality throughout all flight operations. The Captain holds ultimate responsibility for the safe conduct of each flight.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating for the Challenger 300.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 4,000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
- A minimum of 2,000 hours of pilot-in-command flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 1,500 hours of turbine flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours of night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- Five years of experience in aviation.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including irregular hours and extended trips.
- Unrestricted willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate the aircraft safely, determining optimal departure times and routes while also possessing the authority to cancel flights when conditions warrant.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute necessary changes in response to en route conditions, ensuring the flight continues safely and compliantly.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Complete all required trip paperwork accurately and in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding with the second-in-command regarding all flight aspects.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies in the designated log and promptly report these to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Assess and address inoperative items in accordance with the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), under the guidance of the DOM or designee.
- Confirm that the flight crew is properly attired and fit for duty, both mentally and physically.
- Maintain a complete and thorough working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including all associated emergency systems and procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage when deemed necessary or as directed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized source.
- File, or ensure the filing of, a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze relevant area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Act as the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC), adhering to the applicable security program requirements.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate that duty to the second-in-command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the second-in-command, preparing them to assume the role of Pilot in Command during an emergency, or upon upgrade.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon the conclusion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting any safety hazards or concerns.
- Report all hazardous actions, conduct, or events immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties, but retain responsibility for their completion.
- Fulfill any other duties as may be required.
- Represent Jet Aviation positively, both internally and externally, through interactions with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to use hands and fingers for handling and reaching, frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be necessary. The employee must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The position requires the ability to work in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer areas. The noise level will be moderate, with occasional higher volumes during aircraft arrivals and departures. Exposure to vibration is frequent, and occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may also experience extreme hot and cold temperatures, depending on the season.
