Fixed Wing Pilot - Air Ambulance
Classic Air Medical, an Intermountain Health company, is seeking highly qualified candidates for a full-time Fixed Wing Pilot position at our Elko, Nevada air base. This opportunity offers a unique work-life balance, a six-figure income, and a stable, secure environment.
Position Overview:
The Fixed Wing Pilot will be responsible for safely and effectively operating PC-12NG and PC-12 Legacy aircraft for Single Pilot Air Ambulance operations. The role will be based at the Elko, Nevada air base and will involve a schedule that provides equal time on and off duty. Company-provided crew housing is available while on shift.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $85,874 - $122,740 per year, based on a rate of $39.32 - $56.20 per hour for 2184 hours of work annually. Actual hourly rate will be determined based on experience.
- Staffing Incentive: $30,000 per year. First-year total compensation, with no EMS experience, starts at $115,874.
- Location Stipend: $10,000 offered to those residing within 60 minutes of the Cortez airport, which can be activated upon relocation.
- Relocation Allowance: $7,500, paid upon submission of receipts up to the specified amount.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively operate aircraft in accordance with federal regulations, manufacturer's recommendations, and Intermountain policies.
- Demonstrate effective, independent critical thinking during preflight planning and aircraft operations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of aviation regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively and timely with team members, communication specialists, and patients/family members. Coordinate and communicate decisions with team members when appropriate.
- Ensure aircraft cleanliness and proper functioning. Maintain a safe environment for all personnel and patients.
- Evaluate transports according to service criteria and guidelines.
- Continuously seek self-development and foster the education and development of peers.
- Participate in selected flight reviews and contribute to the education of team members.
- Assist medical crew members with tasks such as moving bags, loading/unloading patients, replenishing oxygen, and other duties as needed.
- As Lead Pilot, assist with administering and managing satellite base functions and activities. Take corrective action as needed when deviations from established rules, procedures, and policies occur.
- As Instructor Pilot and/or Check Pilot, evaluate pilot flight performance, document accurately and timely, and contribute to ongoing training program assessment and quality improvement.
- As Safety Representative, monitor safety issues, oversee the resolution of safety-related problems, and participate in Safety Committee reviews. Implement best practices, provide training, and educate within the base or area of assignment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a Commercial Pilot certificate with appropriate category and class ratings, including instrument airplane, or an ATP certificate with Airplane multi-engine land rating and commercial single engine land privileges.
- 2500 flight hours in airplanes.
- 200 flight hours at night.
- 300 flight hours instrument, with at least 100 in actual instrument conditions.
- 500 Pilot in Command flight hours in a multi-engine airplane.
- 500 Pilot in Command flight hours in a turbine airplane.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EMS experience as a Fixed Wing Pilot in Command.
- King Air 90/200 PIC time: 100 hours.
- PC-12 PIC time: 50 hours.
Physical Requirements:
- Effective verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information.
- Ability to support the weight of aviation and clinical equipment while transporting it.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Minimum lifting requirement of 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Ability to raise and lower objects.
- Ability to operate aviation equipment, tools, computers, and devices requiring finger and hand dexterity.
- Ability to see and read monitors and documents.
- Ability to transport oneself from place to place.
- Ability to move around on hands and knees, including in confined spaces.
- Pilots are required to participate in an on-going random DOT/FAA drug testing program.
