Position Summary

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI) is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated UAV Instructor Operator Pilot to join its esteemed Aero Services division. This pivotal role contributes significantly to the company's military and commercial engineering services by providing essential aircrew training, operational support, and flight test capabilities for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

Key Responsibilities

The UAV Instructor Operator Pilot acts as a lead Instructor Operator, providing comprehensive support to customer organizational units in aircrew training, evaluations, and sustained flight operations. This role involves meticulous coordination and active participation in all facets of ground and flight operations, including detailed mission planning, precise execution, thorough briefing and debriefing, robust aircrew resource management, and strict adherence to safety protocols. The incumbent may be called upon to remotely pilot UAVs to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during flight test and demonstration support, performing specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers. Critical to the role is ensuring stringent adherence to service guidance, company policies and procedures, and all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Furthermore, the Instructor Operator Pilot may contribute to the development and verification of procedures for new aircraft features and participate in crafting operational and safety procedures, as well as training syllabus courseware. The position demands observance of all applicable laws, regulations, and other obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company, working in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess a robust background and demonstrated expertise in UAV operations and aviation. The requirements include:

• Education and Experience: Typically requires educational training equivalent to the completion of a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency, coupled with a minimum of two or more years of experience in UAV operation or aviation. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Operational Expertise: Familiarity with Army forms, records, and publications, as well as Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (DCMA 8210).
• Technical Acumen: Must demonstrate a detailed understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts.
• Flight Experience: A minimum of two hundred (200) hours in a Unmanned Ground Control Station (UGCS) or Open Source Ground Control Station (OSGCS), with at least fifty (50) hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) holding a UAV instructor or multiple UAV aircraft qualification.
• Certification: Graduation from a Department of the Army (DA) or Department of Education (DES) Instructor Operator (IO) Course for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle is required.
• Communication Skills: Possesses excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately interface with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew.
• Computer Proficiency: Detailed knowledge of computer operations and applications.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to maintain a FAA Class II flight physical.
• Work Ethic: Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Must be capable of working extended hours and undertaking required travel.
