Position Summary

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC is seeking a highly qualified and motivated UAV Instructor Operator to provide critical field support for US Army operations in Jacksonville, Florida. This integral role is responsible for delivering comprehensive aircrew training, conducting rigorous evaluations, and ensuring the seamless execution of sustained flight operations for customer organizational units. The Instructor Operator will actively engage in all facets of ground and flight operations, from meticulous mission planning and execution to thorough briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and adherence to stringent safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a primary Instructor Operator for General Atomics PBL US Army field support initiatives.
  • Provides essential support to customer organizational units in aircrew training, comprehensive evaluations, and the sustainment of flight operations.
  • Coordinates and participates actively in all ground and flight operations endeavors, including precise mission planning, efficient execution, thorough briefing and debriefing sessions, effective aircrew resource management, and strict adherence to safety standards.
  • May be required to remotely pilot unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to assess compliance with specifications and determine operational suitability during flight test and demonstration support, utilizing specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers.
  • Ensures meticulous compliance with all relevant service guidance, company policies and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Contributes to the development and verification of procedures for novel aircraft features, and participates in the creation of operational and safety procedures and training syllabus courseware.
  • Upholds all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate obligations in every business activity conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Maintains a commitment to safety, operating in strict accordance with established procedures and best practices.
  • Performs other assigned duties as required to support operational objectives.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

  • Requires educational training equivalent to a four-year technical degree or trade school equivalency, coupled with a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience in UAV operation or general aviation.
  • Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation fields may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • A minimum of two hundred (200) hours in a Unmanned Ground Control Station (UGCS) or Unmanned System Ground Control Station (OSGCS), with at least fifty (50) hours logged as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) holding either a UAV instructor qualification or multiple UAV aircraft qualifications.
  • Graduation from a Department of the Army (DA) or Department of Defense (DES) Instructor Operator Course, specifically for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle, is essential.

Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated detailed understanding of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) principles, theories, concepts, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Proficiency in computer operations and applications.
  • Familiarity with US Army forms, records, and publications, along with Contractor Flight and Ground Operations procedures and records (e.g., DCMA 8210).

Interpersonal and Other Requirements

  • Possesses excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a current FAA Class II flight physical.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and undertake travel as required (estimated 25-50%).
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an entry-level security clearance is required.
