Role Overview

CAE is seeking a dedicated Instructor Trainer to join the Civil Aviation Training team based in Burgess Hill. This role is pivotal in ensuring the consistent delivery and governance of Instructor Development Training (IDT) programs, maintaining alignment with global standards, regulatory obligations, and CAE’s training requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support Civil Global IDT, applying global instructional standards across all activities.
  • Serve as an Instructor Trainer, Mentor, or Coach, fostering instructor development through feedback and role-modeling best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of instructor-facing courseware, ensuring alignment with IDT management processes and modern digital optimization.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Training Managers, and global Standards leadership to forecast training needs, support onboarding, and ensure resource readiness.
  • Uphold global standardization through effective cross-center coordination and clear communication.
  • Monitor Academy performance metrics (OKRs and KPIs), identifying trends and opportunities for enhanced training efficiency.
  • Model instructional excellence by applying competency-based teaching philosophies and providing constructive coaching during training events.

Qualifications and Education

  • Must hold or have held an ICAO ATPL or CPL license.
  • Must hold or have held an FAA instructor certificate, a Part FCL instructor certificate issued by an EASA member state, or an equivalent 900(c) qualification related to the flight training domain.
  • Multi-domain experience (e.g., BAT, CAT, FTO) is preferred.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of three years of experience delivering or managing instructor training within an ATO, AOC, or global training organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks, such as EASA Part FCL/ORA or FAA Parts 61/135/142.
  • Proven expertise in adult learning principles, facilitation, and competency-based training & assessment (CBTA/EBT).
  • Extensive experience in developing instructor-development programs, including CRM, teaching fundamentals, and briefing/debriefing principles.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and virtual learning environment tools.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Experience conducting instructor observations, evaluations, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to oversee courseware lifecycle management and instructor onboarding pathways.
  • Experience leading or coordinating multi-center/global training initiatives is considered an asset.
