The First Officer is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and customer-centric flight operations in full compliance with company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations. This role demands consistent adherence to operational protocols, comprehensive pre- and post-flight inspections, and the ability to operate aircraft during weekends, holidays, and night flights. The First Officer will meticulously review weather conditions, ensure proper flight planning and fueling, and actively manage aircraft handling, passenger safety, baggage, and cargo at terminal points. They will maintain awareness of on-time departures and communicate any operational factors affecting the flight to crew and passengers. Load manifests must be reviewed and passenger counts verified before each departure.
Candidates must possess a minimum of 1,500 hours total flight time, with 2,500 hours preferred. Furthermore, they should have 750 hours of multi-engine fixed-wing experience, 500 hours of pilot-in-command (PIC) experience, and 500 hours of jet/turboprop experience. A current FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate, an ATP Certificate, and an FCC Restricted Radio Operator’s Permit are essential. A valid U.S. passport or valid foreign passport with authorization to work in the United States and the ability to travel to all destinations served by the airline are mandatory. The candidate must be willing to relocate and maintain a professional appearance, while also being available for weekend, night, holiday, and overnight trips. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks are required. Experience with Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS) and Flight Management Systems (FMS) is highly desired. Finally, successful candidates will be compliant with the company's COVID policies, including a requirement that new hires are fully vaccinated by their first day of employment to the degree permitted by law.
This position requires excellent communication skills in spoken, written, and read English, as well as an ability to effectively problem-solve and respond constructively to challenging situations. Essential leadership qualities include empathy, accountability, ethics, and dependability. The First Officer must be able to adjust to a dynamic flying schedule, including day and night flights. This role requires the use of standard office equipment, iPad, Electronic Tablet, aircraft controls, company manuals, navigation charts, and flashlights. Moderate physical activity is involved, including the ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
