Seasonal Air Tanker Pilot – Forest Protection Limited (FPL)
Forest Protection Limited (FPL) seeks highly skilled and experienced pilots for seasonal wildfire suppression operations during the 2025 season (April 7th – September 15th). Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and reporting to the Chief Pilot, successful candidates will contribute to vital wildfire mitigation efforts across various jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
- Pilot Air Tractor AT-802 aircraft in fire suppression operations within New Brunswick and other deployed locations, as well as in aerial application projects when required.
- Adhere strictly to FPL's Company Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Follow instructions from Department of Natural Resources officers (fire suppression) or the base manager (aerial application).
- Complete all pre- and post-flight documentation promptly and report any maintenance needs immediately.
- Maintain aircraft cleanliness and operational readiness.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Commercial Pilot License – Fixed Wing.
- Possess a minimum of 1500 hours of Pilot-in-Command time and 300 hours of tailwheel experience.
- Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rating is highly desirable.
- Prior experience with turbine engines and low-altitude operations (aerial application or fire suppression) is preferred.
Operational Requirements:
- Legal authorization to work in Canada within the Federal Aviation sector.
- Possession of a Canadian Commercial Pilot – Fixed Wing license or a Transport Canada-recognized international equivalent.
- Current Canadian Category 1 medical certificate.
- Recent flying experience within the past 12 months.
- Successful completion of FPL's ground and flight training program, including a pilot competency check.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Clear Criminal Background Check.
- Valid Canadian driver's license or a federally recognized international equivalent.
- Clean Driver Abstract.
- Passport valid for at least 30 days beyond the employment period.
- Modern smartphone with up-to-date operating system (for secure company communication apps) and laptop/device capable of accessing email and reading small print.
- CSA-approved footwear.
