Forest Protection Limited is seeking qualified applicants for seasonal Air Tanker Pilot positions for the 2025 season, spanning from April 7, 2025, to September 15, 2025. Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and reporting to the Chief Pilot, the successful candidate will operate during the wildfire season, executing vital fire suppression and aerial application tasks.

Job Description:

The Air Tanker Pilot will operate Air Tractor AT802 aircraft during fire suppression operations within New Brunswick and on deployment to other jurisdictions, as well as on aerial application projects, as required. They will operate the assigned aircraft and perform all key duties in accordance with Forest Protection Limited's Company Operations Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. The pilot will adhere to instructions issued by officers of the Department of Natural Resources during fire suppression, or from the base manager when assigned to aerial application projects. They will also complete required pre-flight and post-flight paperwork in a timely manner, reporting all items requiring maintenance as soon as possible, and will maintain the cleanliness of the aircraft.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess a Commercial Pilot License - Fixed Wing, a minimum of 1500 hours of pilot-in-command time, and 300 hours of tailwheel experience. A valid Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rating is considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience operating turbine engines and engaging in low-altitude operations, such as aerial application or fire suppression.

Operational Requirements:

All applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada within the Federal Aviation sector and hold a Canadian Commercial Pilot – Fixed Wing license or the Transport Canada-recognized international equivalent. A valid Canadian Category 1 medical certificate is mandatory, along with recent flying experience within the last 12 months. Successful completion of the Forest Protection Limited ground and flight training program, including a pilot competency check, is required. The pilot must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, possess a clean Criminal Background Check, and hold a valid Canadian driver’s license or a federally recognized international equivalent. The ability to obtain a clean Driver Abstract is necessary, as is a passport valid for at least 30 days after the end of any employment period. Candidates must also possess a modern smartphone with an up-to-date operating system capable of running secure company communication apps, along with a laptop or device suitable for accessing email and reading small print. Finally, CSA-approved footwear is required.
