The Opportunity: Pilot Courseware Development Specialist
Bombardier is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot Courseware Development Specialist to join its dynamic team in Dorval, Québec. This critical role is instrumental in ensuring the technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness of training materials for Bombardier’s advanced aircraft programs. The Specialist will contribute significantly to the ongoing enhancement of global aviation training standards, specifically for pilot flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot Courseware Development Specialist will be responsible for a range of essential duties, including:
- Overseeing the meticulous version control and precise release tracking of all aviation courseware documents.
- Ensuring technical currency across various Bombardier programs and integrating the latest regulatory updates into training materials.
- Providing expert Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) technical guidance on training development methodologies and regulatory adherence.
- Monitoring and reporting on courseware readiness metrics for new aircraft programs, ensuring timely availability.
- Managing Authorized Training Provider (ATP) audits and actively supporting internal audit activities to maintain high standards.
- Supporting the generation of national reports required for program certification and regulatory approval.
- Recommending strategic courseware improvements based on comprehensive internal and external feedback.
- Responding promptly and effectively to training-related customer feedback and ensuring all action items are addressed.
- Reviewing and contributing to essential updates for flight manuals and all associated training documentation.
- Representing Bombardier Training Services (BTS) in ATP courseware design and development reviews, fostering collaboration.
- Appraising and communicating aircraft changes that have an impact on existing and future training programs.
- Coordinating ATP access to Bombardier facilities to facilitate efficient courseware development.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a compelling blend of experience, technical expertise, and professional attributes:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in aviation flight, maintenance, or training domains, with 2+ years of supervisory experience highly preferred.
- Demonstrated familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management Systems (SMS) specifically within aviation training environments.
- Possession of an Aircraft Maintenance diploma or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.
- An expert understanding of regulatory requirements pertinent to aviation training certification.
- In-depth knowledge of aviation maintenance and avionics systems.
- Proven solid analytical and astute decision-making abilities.
- Advanced technical presentation and highly effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in essential software tools including MS Office Suite, Adobe FrameMaker, and various PDF editing applications.
- Valuable operational insight into airline or business aviation environments.
- A strong understanding of complex aircraft systems and pilot flight operations.
- Documented experience in developing both computer-based (CBT) and instructor-led (ILT) courseware.
- A Transport Canada AME license or an equivalent international certification.
