Role Summary

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This role requires strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles, ensuring the highest standards of safety and proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials that effectively support training delivery, tailored to meet client needs and align with applicable curriculum standards.
  • Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or identifying the need for additional training.
  • Maintain precise and complete training records specific to each client, thereby facilitating their success in achieving desired objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance prior to the execution of training.
  • Ensure continuous maintenance of personal Instructor qualifications in accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • No specific educational requirement is stated.

Minimum Experience:

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • If an ATP certificate is not held, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training operations.
  • Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of common aviation regulations.
  • Exhibits the ability to effectively manage training classes and deliver instruction.
  • Possesses first-level facilitation skills to guide and support learners.
  • Displays first-level customer service skills, interacting professionally with clients.
  • Is coachable and receptive to receiving feedback to support continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The performance of duties regularly requires the use of hands for manipulation, reaching with hands and arms, and effective communication through speech or hearing. Occasional requirements include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensing taste or smell.

Must possess physical range of body motion to perform the following: Reach, exert pressure and manipulate the rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet. Reach and manipulate numerous controls within the Simulator device from the Instructor’s chair. Enter and exit from the Simulator device via the provided ramp. Move between the Instructor station, screen and podium while instructing in the classroom. Exit from malfunctioned Simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Specific visual acuity includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
