Position Summary:
The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This critical role operates in strict accordance with aviation regulations and adheres to FlightSafety's established training principles to ensure the highest standards of safety and proficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials that effectively support the delivery of training, meeting client needs and aligning with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluate and measure trainee progress accurately, providing assessments and recommendations for qualification or identifying needs for additional training.
- Complete detailed and precise training records specific to each client, contributing directly to their success in achieving stated training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance or guidance prior to the execution of training.
- Maintain personal Instructor qualifications meticulously in accordance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- If an ATP is not held, candidates must meet the requirements of:
- 14 CFR part 61.153
- 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is required.
- **Preferred Experience:** Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments is highly valued.
- **Preferred Experience:** A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
- Understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Proven ability to manage classroom environments effectively and deliver engaging instruction.
- Possession of foundational facilitation skills.
- Competence in providing first-level customer service.
- The ability to be receptive to coaching and feedback, utilizing it for professional development.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The role requires physical abilities including using hands for controls, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific demands involve manipulating controls, entering/exiting simulators, moving within classroom spaces, and potentially exiting a simulator in a pitched attitude. Essential vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Occasional lifting and movement of up to 25 pounds is necessary. The work environment may involve proximity to moving mechanical parts, potential work in high or precarious locations, exposure to outside weather conditions, and occasional exposure to various environmental factors such as fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, or vibration.
