Purpose of Position
The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in shaping the skills and knowledge of future aviators. This role demands an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering meticulously to aviation regulations and FlightSafety Training principles.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor's responsibilities encompass a multifaceted approach to aviation education:
- Delivering engaging and effective pilot ground and simulator training for clients participating in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Developing and preparing high-quality training materials tailored to meet specific client needs and aligned with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluating and meticulously measuring trainee progress, providing constructive feedback, and recommending individuals for qualification or additional training as necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed training records for each client, diligently documenting their progress and supporting their successful achievement of training objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training challenges and seeking timely assistance to ensure a seamless and effective learning experience.
- Maintaining personal Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Minimum Experience
Candidates for the Flight Instructor position must meet the following essential criteria:
- Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- In the absence of an ATP, candidates must fulfill the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The Flight Instructor position requires the physical dexterity to:
- Use hands for fine motor skills, handle objects, and operate controls.
- Reach with both arms and hands.
- Communicate effectively through speaking and listening.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
- Possess specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
The work environment may involve:
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Working at heights or in precarious locations.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
- Contact with wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, radiation, and vibration.
