Position Overview: Pilot Instructor (KC-46)

The Pilot Instructor is responsible for executing all simulator-based training in the Weapon System Trainer (WST), including pre-briefings and debriefings for U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 pilots. This role focuses on instructing and measuring the training progress of pilot and maintenance students in accordance with established aircrew training curricula.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $0 – $1,199,998.00. Compensation is determined based on qualifications, education, skills, experience, and market demand. Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Conduct Quarterly Refresher training utilizing classrooms, Computer-based Training (CBT), the WST, and the KC-46 aircraft.
  • Provide ground-based training for Aircrew Members in tanker and receiver operating procedures, including student diagnosis and remediation.
  • Deliver Initial and Recurring training for Maintenance Personnel in Engine Run courses.
  • Facilitate briefings, debriefings, and counseling to ensure high technical acumen and student proficiency.
  • Analyze student data and prepare reports for review sessions.
  • Serve as the KC-46 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Maintain exceptional standards of instruction and comprehensive knowledge of KC-46 aircraft systems.
  • Contribute to courseware modifications, training policy updates, and training device development.
  • Operate the Student Management System and maintain accurate training records.
  • Participate in WST certification testing and annual aircraft familiarization flights.
  • Ensure Quality Assurance (QA) of lesson plans and course materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education, experience, and training.
  • Experience: Qualified Tanker Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Pilot Flight Instructor or Tanker AAR Aircrew Training System (ATS) Pilot Instructor (within the last 5 years).
  • Flight Hours: Minimum of 200 flying hours in U.S. Air Force or Allied Nation aircraft (or equivalent simulator), with at least 50% occurring in the aircraft.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Receiver AAR Instructor experience and a B-767 type rating.
  • Communication: Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to influence others to achieve program goals through moral and ethical leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide on-the-spot remediation to students.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Capability to successfully complete an annual internal standardization evaluation.

Physical Demands

The role requires regular sitting, manual dexterity, and the ability to reach, talk, and hear. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds and maintain adequate close/distance vision. The work environment typically presents a moderate noise level.

Compliance and Regulatory Requirements

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of compliance reviews and verification that the candidate is not prohibited from employment under U.S. economic sanctions.
