Position Overview
The Pilot Instructor will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional simulator-based training within the Weapon System Trainer (WST). This includes conducting comprehensive pre-briefings and debriefings for U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 Pilots participating in Quarterly Refresher training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Quarterly Refresher training utilizing a variety of platforms including classrooms, Computer-based Training (CBT), WST, and KC-46 aircraft.
- Conduct ground-based training for Aircrew Members, focusing on tanker and receiver operating procedures, including adeptly diagnosing and remediating student challenges.
- Deliver Initial and Recurring training for Maintenance Personnel enrolled in Engine Run courses.
- Facilitate engaging and informative briefings, debriefings, and counseling sessions for Aircrew Members and Maintenance Personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning and peak performance.
- Meticulously extract and analyze student data to prepare insightful review sessions, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Serve as a trusted KC-46 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and relevant personnel, providing guidance and expertise.
- Maintain the highest standards of instruction, constantly expanding knowledge, capabilities, and expertise to deliver world-class training.
- Cultivate and maintain an exceptional understanding of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding and practical application of instructional principles and theories relevant to aircrew training systems.
- Actively contribute to courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness.
- Provide support for other project and development work as assigned, showcasing a collaborative spirit and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficiently operate the Student Management System.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage administrative tasks related to training, encompassing meticulous record keeping, attentive student progress monitoring, and constructive counseling.
- Participate in WST certification testing as required, contributing to the rigorous evaluation and validation of training systems.
- Diligently review assigned CBT and classroom lesson plans for content accuracy, ensuring the highest level of Quality Assurance (QA) and recommending/incorporating necessary corrections, modifications, and updates to established curricula.
- Provide dedicated support for courseware development and meticulously maintain established training curricula, ensuring relevance and adherence to best practices.
- Actively contribute to training device development efforts, leveraging expertise to enhance the realism and effectiveness of training simulations.
- Participate in at least one annual aircraft familiarization flight as a non-flying, additional crew member, maintaining a practical understanding of aircraft operations.
- Undertake travel as required, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to support training needs at various locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, showcasing flexibility and a commitment to exceeding expectations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Proven experience as a qualified Tanker Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Pilot Flight Instructor or as a Tanker AAR Aircrew Training System (ATS) Pilot Instructor, with the position held within 5 years of the date of assignment to the KC-46 ATS.
- Minimum of 200 flying hours logged in U.S. Air Force or Allied Nation aircraft, or equivalent flight simulator experience, with at least 50% occurring in the aircraft.
- Receiver AAR Instructor experience highly desirable.
- Type rating in B-767 preferred.

- Ability to successfully complete an annual internal standardization evaluation, demonstrating commitment to maintaining high performance standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
Work Environment:
The work environment is generally moderate in noise level. The role requires regular sitting, use of hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 20 pounds may be required. Close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus, are essential for this position.
