Lead Pilot in Command – Challenger 300 – Jacksonville, FL
Executive Jet Management (EJM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and a pioneer in aircraft management and worldwide jet charter services since 1977, seeks a highly skilled and experienced Lead Pilot in Command (PIC) for a Challenger 300 based at Jacksonville International Airport (KJAC). This role leads a four-pilot flight department operating under Part 135 regulations and is supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician.
Purpose of the Position:
The Lead PIC serves as a peer leader, fostering effective crew resource management, exceptional client service, and meticulous completion of flight department administrative duties. This role actively participates in the flying schedule and adheres to all PIC responsibilities and expectations.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Leading Flight Department Success:
- Cultivates and maintains strong client relationships, proactively addressing needs and potential issues.
- Collaborates closely with maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with all aircraft maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) and administrative tasks (database updates, audits, checklists).
- Manages flight department operational aspects, including invoice review, auditing, vendor relations, charter approvals, and crew scheduling.
- Mentors and motivates flight department crew members, reporting concerns to the Regional Chief Pilot and upholding the EJM brand.
- Oversees flight department administration, including supplies, subscriptions, and crew scheduling and communication.
Ensuring Safe Flight Operations:
- Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory requirements for crewing and trip assignments.
- Executes thorough flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance computations.
- Employs Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to mitigate operational risks.
- Adheres to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates with company personnel. Serves as Ground and In-Flight Security Coordinator.
- Conducts comprehensive pre-flight aircraft inspections, recording all discrepancies according to SOPs.
- Monitors and ensures adherence to SOPs for ground servicing (fueling, oil, oxygen).
- Delivers exceptional passenger briefings, providing the highest level of customer service and accommodating special needs.
- Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) for effective communication during all phases of operation.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Provides superior service to owners and passengers, identifying and proactively resolving service deviations.
- Collaborates with crew and EJM partners to ensure a consistent, high-quality service experience, effectively managing conflict.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintains all required regulatory and company training and recency of experience.
- Complies with the company Safety Management System (SMS) program, reporting safety concerns through appropriate channels.
- Ensures all crewmembers maintain qualifications according to regulations and company policy.
- Oversees crew compliance with company policies and ensures appropriate audits are conducted.
Experience and Qualifications:
4-6 years of experience. Prior experience in corporate/business aviation preferred. FAA Type Rating in applicable fleet required. Ability to perform all essential job functions. Minimum Flight Time Requirements: Total Flight Time: 3500 hours, Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours, Pilot in Command (PIC): 2000 hours, PIC MEL: 500 hours, Instrument: 300 hours, Jet: 500 hours
