Position Overview

Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is actively recruiting skilled professionals for a Pilot in Command (PIC) position supporting a Global 5000 aircraft based at Bedford, MA (KBED). This key role is part of a three-pilot team, augmented by a dedicated Maintenance Technician. The operation involves approximately 450 flight hours annually, split between Part 91 and Part 135 regulations (350 hours Part 91 / 100 hours Part 135). A significant portion of travel, approximately 30%, is international, with a focus on European destinations. Preference will be extended to candidates who possess current type ratings and reside within a three-hour commute of KBED.

The Pilot in Command holds ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated safely, compliantly, and efficiently. This includes adherence to all company and regulatory requirements while consistently delivering an exceptional service experience to passengers.

Key Responsibilities

Ensures the Safe Operation of Flight

  • Verifies crewing and trip assignments align with all company and regulatory mandates.
  • Executes comprehensive flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance assessments for each assignment.
  • Leverages the Threats, Plans, and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to conduct essential briefings and proactively mitigate operational risks.
  • Adheres strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborates effectively with internal company personnel. Assumes duties of Ground Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as stipulated by company policy.
  • Conducts thorough pre-flight aircraft inspections, including a review of the maintenance status, to confirm mission readiness. Accurately documents all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
  • Monitors and ensures all aircraft ground servicing requirements (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are met according to SOPs.
  • Delivers passenger briefings in compliance with company policy and applicable regulations. Provides the highest standard of customer service, attending to the specific needs of all passengers, including those with physical challenges.
  • Employs Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles to facilitate clear and timely communication with the crew and support personnel during all operational phases, including normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.

Delivers an Exceptional Service Experience

  • Provides superior service to aircraft owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to elevate the EJM service experience. Investigates and resolves service deviations efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborates seamlessly with fellow crew members and EJM internal partners to deliver a consistent and outstanding service experience for owners and passengers. Manages and resolves conflicts and challenges professionally.

Maintains Proficiency and Compliance

  • Ensures all regulatory and company-mandated training requirements and recency of experience are maintained.
  • Actively participates in the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program and reports any safety or compliance concerns through the designated channels.

Required Qualifications & Experience (KSAOs)

  • Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is highly preferred.
  • An FAA Type Rating in the Global 5000 is strongly preferred. Candidates possessing this rating will receive priority consideration.
  • Candidates must reside within a three-hour radius of KBED; commuting is not permitted.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position is required.
  • Minimum Time Requirements:
    • Total Flight Time: 3,500 hours
    • Multi-Engine Land (MEL): 1,500 hours
    • Pilot in Command (PIC): 2,000 hours
    • PIC MEL: 500 hours
    • Instrument Time: 300 hours
    • Jet Flight Time: 500 hours

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary Range (Large/Heavy/Premium Cabin): $280,000 - $325,000
