The successful candidate will be responsible for the safety and security of all crew members, passengers, and cargo onboard the aircraft. He/She will be responsible for the operation and safety of the aircraft from the moment it begins taxiing for takeoff until it comes to a complete stop at the end of the flight. The Captain must be familiar with all applicable regulations, documentation, and briefing materials for the intended route of flight, destination, and alternate airfields. The Commander shall familiarize themselves with both oxygen escape routes and terrain escape routes.
The Captain has the authority to give all commands deemed necessary for securing the safety of the aircraft and its occupants and to disembark any person or cargo that may represent a potential hazard. The Captain will ensure that all crew comply with operational checklists before, during, and after all phases of flight operations, including abnormal and emergency situations. The Captain ensures the proper implementation and application of the manufacturer’s procedures and checklists approved for use by Etihad Airways.
In emergency situations requiring immediate decision and action, the Captain will take any action considered necessary, even deviating from standard rules and procedures in the interest of safety. He/She will operate the aircraft within the scope of all Operational Manuals and ensure all persons carried in the aircraft obey all lawful commands. The Captain must operate efficiently in accordance with company fuel policy and ensure on-time performance and customer awareness.
