Position Summary
The First Officer reports directly to the Chief Pilot and plays a pivotal role in Eastern Airlines' operational success. This position guarantees a minimum of 72 hours per month, offering a structured and rewarding career path for highly skilled pilots. Key Responsibilities of the First Officer
As a vital member of the flight crew, the First Officer shares paramount responsibility with the Captain for the safety and security of passengers, cargo, and the overall flight operation. Key duties include:
- Collaborating with the Captain to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of all flights.
- Providing guidance and coordinating the activities of all personnel involved in every phase of aircraft operation.
- Maintaining a current FAA first-class medical certificate and promptly notifying the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, or designee of any medical condition (physical or mental) that may impair flight performance.
- Performing all assigned flight duties as directed by the Captain.
- Assuming authority and acting on behalf of the Captain in the event of incapacitation, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the Captain’s duties and responsibilities and accepting delegated tasks.
- Adhering strictly to all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
- Current FAA first-class medical certificate (or ability to obtain one prior to training commencement).
- Valid driver's license.
- Impeccable safety and training record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous B-767 FAR 121 experience.
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) experience.
- Type-rated on multi-engine aircraft, with a strong preference for B-767/757 or B-777 ratings.
Additional Requirements
Successful applicants often exceed the minimum qualifications and must also meet the following essential requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and perform under pressure in a dynamic operational environment.
- Willingness to bid for work schedules based on seniority, which may include days, swings, midnight shifts, and holidays.
- Availability for required travel.
- Successful completion of comprehensive drug and alcohol background checks, a pre-employment DOT drug test, and a criminal history records check (CHRC).
- Possession of a valid passport.
- English proficiency consistent with at least ICAO Level 4 endorsement.
- Eligibility to work in the United States (US Passport holder or Green Card holder).
