The Role: First Officer (FO)
The First Officer position is a critical full-time role within the Flight Operations department. This professional reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is guaranteed a minimum of seventy (70) flight hours per month. The successful individual must be multi-engine type-rated and must be prepared to exhibit the values and culture of Eastern Airlines while collaborating effectively with other team members and customers in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The First Officer is a central member of the flight crew who, alongside the Captain, assumes responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, cargo, and the safe execution of the flight plan. Responsibilities include:
Operating the aircraft safely and efficiently, maintaining strict operational responsibility to the Captain during all phases of flight.
Providing guidance and coordinating the activities of all individuals connected with aircraft operation.
Performing all assigned flight duties as directed by the Captain.
Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Captain and readily accepting delegated tasks.
Assuming the authority of the Pilot in Command should the Captain become incapacitated during flight.
Maintaining a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate and promptly notifying the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot should any physical or mental condition impair the ability to perform flight duties.
Demonstrating excellent communication skills and upholding company standards while working with passengers and crew.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following foundational credentials:
Active Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license.
Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate (or ability to obtain prior to training).
Valid driver's license.
Impeccable safety and training record.
English proficiency consistent with at least ICAO Level 4 endorsement.
Ability to pass extensive drug and alcohol background checks, pre-employment DOT drug test, and criminal history records check (CHRC).
Possession of a valid passport allowing for international travel.
Eligibility to work in the United States (US Passport holder or Green Card holder).
