Position Overview
Eastern Airlines seeks a professional and dedicated First Officer to serve as a critical component of the flight operations team. The successful individual reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for demonstrating a thorough knowledge and understanding of all relevant Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
The First Officer position provides a competitive employment structure, featuring a minimum guarantee of seventy (70) hours per month. The role requires the incumbent to exhibit strong communication skills and uphold the company's culture and values while operating within a fast-paced, dynamic aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The First Officer (FO) functions as an essential member of the flight crew, sharing responsibility with the Captain for the safe conduct of the flight, the security of passengers, and the integrity of cargo. Specific duties include:
Operating under the operational authority and direction of the Captain on all assigned flights.
Maintaining a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate and proactively notifying the Director of Operations or Chief Pilot if any medical condition impairs the ability to perform flight duties safely.
Executing all flight duties and tasks as formally assigned by the Captain.
Assuming the full authority and responsibilities of the Captain in the event of the Captain's incapacitation.
Possessing detailed knowledge of the Captain's duties and responsibilities, accepting delegation as appropriate.
Coordinating and providing guidance for all individuals connected with various phases of aircraft operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements. Eastern Airlines notes that the most successful candidates typically exceed these minimum standards:
Current Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate (or the ability to obtain prior to training commencement).
Valid driver's license.
Impeccable safety record and comprehensive training history.
Proficiency in English consistent with at least ICAO Level 4 endorsement.
Eligibility to work in the United States (US Passport holder or Green Card holder required).
Must possess a valid, current passport for international travel requirements.
Must successfully pass required drug and alcohol background checks, the pre-employment DOT drug test, and a comprehensive criminal history records check (CHRC).
Preferred Qualifications and Candidate Attributes
Type rating on B-767/B-757 aircraft is highly preferred.
Previous B-767 experience operating under FAR 121 regulations.
