Part-Time ATP CTP / Simulator Instructor (CRJ/B-737 Type Rating)

Location: Minneapolis Training Center - Eagan, Minnesota

About the Role:

CAE, a worldwide leader in aviation training, is seeking experienced, ATP-rated pilots with CRJ (CL-65) or B-737 type ratings to join the team as Part-Time Simulator Instructors at the Minneapolis Training Center in Eagan, Minnesota. This role offers a unique opportunity for pilots to leverage their expertise, elevate their career, and pursue a passion for aviation instruction with significant work-life balance, allowing for flexible scheduling (approximately 8-10 days of availability per month). Full-time opportunities may also be available.

Responsibilities:

The Simulator Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality simulator flight instruction and ground instruction. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing simulator flight instruction for the issuance of licenses, type ratings, and certificates, in accordance with FAA, Transport Canada, CAE, and customer policies and procedures.
  • Conducting thorough and professional pre- and post-flight simulator briefings in accordance with CAE standards.
  • Conducting simulator sessions in accordance with CAE, aircraft manufacturer, or customer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Providing flight training in accordance with the CAE 14 CFR Part 142 Manual and/or customer’s training program.
  • Accurately and comprehensively completing appropriate crew training records to ensure pilot understanding and seamless handover.
  • Recommending, where necessary, remedial training for pilots not meeting required training progress.
  • Recording simulator usage and discrepancies using appropriate procedures.
  • Maintaining proficiency as an instructor as required by regulations and company policies.
  • Tracking the validity of instructional qualifications to ensure continuous qualification to deliver training in accordance with contractual commitments.
  • Promoting crew resource management (CRM) principles and Threat and Error Management (TEM) principles.
  • Monitoring and assisting with administrative programs in all areas of flight training as required or assigned.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in the creation of curricula and courseware when required.
  • Accepting training for examiner responsibilities when required by the Manager of Training.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Training Manager.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Availability to work a minimum of 8 days per month.
  • Authorization to live and work in the United States.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Current, unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License.
  • PIC CRJ (CL-65) or B-737 type rating is required.
  • Ability to meet relevant minimum qualification and experience requirements for qualification as a Simulator Instructor.
  • At least one of the following operational experience requirements:
    • Two years of air carrier experience as pilot in command (PIC) or second in command (SIC) in any operation conducted under 14 CFR Part 121.
    • Two years of air carrier operational experience as a PIC in operations under 14 CFR Part 91 for a multiengine turbine-powered fixed-wing and powered-lift aircraft requiring an airline transport pilot license and applicable type ratings.
    • Two years of air carrier operational experience as a PIC in operations under 14 CFR Part 135 for a turbojet airplane requiring an airline transport pilot license with appropriate category and class ratings and, if required, an appropriate type rating for that airplane.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills (spoken and written) across all levels.
  • Strong focus on quality with a continuous drive towards process improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to maintain strong customer orientation under adverse circumstances.
  • Ability to concentrate and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to readily accept changes and adjust accordingly.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of FAR Part 61, 91, and 121.
  • Proficiency with PC computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and iPad skills (Foreflight, Safari, navigating multiple applications).
  • Fluency in English.
  • Must be able and willing to participate in CAE’s DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
  • Previous Simulator Instructor experience is preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
